Thread: Setting Up Music Library

    Default Setting Up Music Library

Wanted to do some test work on setting up the music library. Copied 2 albums to a test folder and then added them to the Music Library. Albums are there, but it appears that they are sorted by track title, not good. The order they are shown on my data base is:
    Album - Album Artist (1) - Track # - Track Artist - Track title - Genre - Year
    1. If this is a compilation album "various artists" appears and the artist for that track is picked up from the track artist
It appears that the tracks are in the correct order. This is extremely important for classical music because you wouldn't want the 4th movement playing before the 1st movement. For this reason classical music is set up in separate folders and shuffeling/random play is never applied
How do i get my files setup in the above sequence?
I am not using the server function, but i do see an immediate problem. When i attempted to start the server It asked for a user name and password. User name ok. My computer was set up by a person who has since passed away and in 4+ years i have never been asked for a password for any operation and i would have no idea of where to look. Can you tell me how to find it.

At the moment tracks are sorted according to their track order only in the Active playlists where you have the Album keyword. We plan to enhance playlist sorting soon, so you'd be able to sort any playlist according to any criteria. At the moment though, it's all sorted by title be default.

Regarding the computer password - if you don't use a password to logon in to Windows, then just leave it blank (keep the user name as-is) and click OK. This should register the server then.

    Dennis,
Sent a reply to what you suggested, but pc went down so i guess it was lost. Will do a summary:
    1. Got the 2 albums in using link to playlist feature. Was able to sort the albums in order in the details pane and it looked like all of the data was there. Tracks
were sorted in alpha order and as previously stated that is a no,no for classical music. I understand that adding track number and being able to sort on it
is scheduled for a future release.
    2. Decided to try 3 other folders (non classical) just to see how Mezzmo handled these files. One of the albums was a compilation album and the other 2
were single artist albums. Didn't get very far with these. Was unable to get any of the artwork to to copy to Mezzmo. Checked the tags for the files
and the artwork is there, just the same as the first two albums. Don't have a clue as to the problem. I can play these files on Media Monkey and Tag
Tuner with no problem and the artwork shows up.
    3. Tried to start and stop the server and it worked so i guess the password problem solved itself.
I did not anticipate these kinds of problems. The data base is in pretty good shape and i really haven't been working with it for a couple of months, but i do
listen to music 12/16 hours a day while i am doing other work.
Is there any way i can abort the trial period and pick it up again at a later time. I really liked the program and it appeared that it was just what i wanted. Had high hopes that i could get it up and running in a few days.
One other thing i did notice is that the program seemed very slow copying the linked files to Meezmo, a bit difficult to tell since there is no progress bar on the program. One folder had 344 files in it and it was still doing something 10 minutes later. When i transferred these files to the upload folder it was like right now. The same thing happens when you click on the playlist to display it. That is not the case with any of my other programs.

    Dennis,
Just couldn't give up on my problem. Went thru on one folder and checked the tags for each track, in addition to the data there is a cover jpeg embeded in each track. I copied the file to a separate folder i tried ADD Folder and Insert Folder and neither one worked. After trying each one i looked at the folder detail and the only data that is getting thru is the track title. I again looked at the files in the source folder and the tags show the info is there. I am stuck don't know what else to try

Can you please send one of your music files to support and we'll see why the artwork is not being picked up. You are in thumbnail view, not details, right?

We'll try to sort this out - adding files shouldn't be taking that long either (10 minutes is too long for just 344 files). I think it'll be easier to do via e-mail, so we can exchange files and logs as needed. So, just open a support ticket and please send in one of the music files.
