Default Pre-transcoded files deleted after Maintain Library

    Hi,
I recently upgraded to Mezzmo 2.5.0.0 and was pleased to see the facility to be able to pre-transcode playlists. The PC I use for my Mezzmo server lacks some grunt so I pre-transcoded all of my video files which took many hours. After this completed, I deleted a couple of videos I no longer wanted and ran the "Maintain Library" option to only update filers with missing information and to remove deleted media files. After this completed, I realised that all of my pre-transcoded files have been deleted. I tried this a second tim thinking that it must have been something I have done wrong, but the same thing happened. It appears that maintaining your Mezzmo Library clears out all of your transcoded files .

    Regards,

    Peter

    Hi Peter,

Transcoded files should not be removed by maintenance, unless the original file has changed. Is there a chance that the original file's dates were changed (for example)?

Also, are the transcoded files physically gone from disk (check your transcoding folder) or are they still there, but don't show up in file properties on the transcoding tab anymore?

Can you please send me a screenshot of your Maintain dialog as well, so that we could try and reproduce this here? Could you please also list the exact steps that reproduce this issue?

    Hi Dennis,
I have attached a screenshot of my Maintain Library dialog box below. Yes, I can confirm that the transcoded files are physically gone. I initially noticed it when nothing showed in the Transcoding tab of the file properties but when I looked in the Transcoding Folder, all the *.mzt files were gone.

I have just done another test using the steps below (No transcoding files exist initially):

    1. Run Maintain Library using settings in my screenshot to ensure all is up to date
    2. Pre-transcode video file - To save time, I right clicked on a video, selected Properties->Transcoding Tab->Pre-transcode and Pre-transcoded for my Samsung C TV using preferred (bold) settings
    3. Verified that the transcoding file exists in the Transcoding folder and can see it in Transcoding Tab in File properties - All looks good
    4. Run Maintain Library again using same settings as in screenshot
    5. Check transcoding file - gone from Transcoding folder and Transcoding Tab in file properties

    Regards,

    Peter

    Hi Peter,

I've tried to do the same here, but it all works expected - no transcoding files are removed.

Can you please check the Properties pane for one of those files before you run maintenance and take note of the file dates, width, height, file format, video codec and audio codec. After that run maintenance and re-check those values. If they are different to pre-maintenance values, then that would explain why the transcoded file is deleted.

Also, can you please send your MezzmoTranscode.db file (let me know if you need help finding it) to support?

    Hi Dennis,

With you not being able to reproduce the problem gave me some confidence that the issue is something not quite right at my end. I initially tried rebooting but that did nothing. I then shut down all of Mezzmo and renamed the Conceiva directory under my User Profile (that contains all the DB files) and restarted Mezzmo which started afresh. I setup my library from scratch again and gave it another try. This seems to have mostly fixed my issue but I have seen one *.mzt file disappear after running a Maintain Library. There may be another issue with that one as I am having trouble transcoding that one for some reason - i'll have to experiment more.

I'm in the middle of pre-transcoding my video library at the moment. When it's done, I'll try another Maintain Library operation to see if all is good. I still have all my original DB files if your still interested.

    Regards,

    Peter

    Hi Peter,

See how you go - if the issue is resolved, then most likely I won't need to see your DB files, but do keep them around until we are certain that the problem was with just your particular setup. If you still experience this issue, then please do send them in and we'll investigate.

    Hi Dennis,

I have finished pre-transcoding my library and so far, the problem looks to be fixed. Running a Maintain Library has not deleted any more transcoding files. I see in another thread that others are seeing their transcoding files disappear without running a Maintain Library. I'll keep an eye on mine.

    Regards,

    Peter

Did the .mzt files get removed after maintenance or just on their own? Did you pre-transcode the whole library?
