Thread: Video folders appears twice etc

Default Video folders appears twice etc

I have just started using Mezzmo ( trial version to check it out). I can say its quite amazing .

    I have some questions:

    a) Why are my video folders appearing in both the Music and Video Category in the Library?

    Ex. Music/Folders I get 3 subfolders 3D movies, Music , Mymovies

Video/Folders I get the same 3 subfolders as above.

The difference being that the subfolders are empty under Music/Folder but shows movie content under Video/Folders.

Why is this happening ? Is there something I messed up during the setup ?

Some subfolders are empty under Movie/Folders but this is because they are .iso so I assume they wont show up as this is not a current supported format. They show up as soon as I convert then to MKV

Can I delete the 3 sub subfolders under Music/Folders since the are empty ?

    b) I notice that the Mezzmo automatically classifies my music into genres, artistes etc but it does not do it for Videos . Is this normal ?

    c) I have My Music folder ( share name is Music2) located in separate networked computer . Music2 shows up as a separate folder in the Mezzmo library . However the content of that folder is then classified by Mezzmo under the Music Category . Is this normal ?

    Thanks

BTW Initially I could not find Mezzmo on the Panasonic TV when I used Vierra Connect. I later found that Mezzmo can be located under Viera Tools , DLNA Tab.

Yes, you can delete those folders from Mezzmo - they were created by the initial Library Setup dialog. That dialog creates a set of those folders under each feature which contain files relevant for that feature (e.g. music files under the Music folder).

Most videos do not contain metadata, thus Mezzmo cannot extract genres/artists/etc... from them. We try to do that when we can.

I'm not sure what you mean by c) - can you please describe it a bit more?

What I mean is the following:

    a) The folder in computer 2 which contains my music files is called MyMusic. The subfolders are Classical , Demo and Jazz. The shared name of Mymusic is Music2 . ( I don't know why Win7 assigned this name and I am trying to change it )

    b) The Folder Music2 appears as a folder in the library of Mezzmo ( in computer 1 where Mezzmo is installed) . However there is no content in this folder

    c) The content of Music2 seems to have been classified already by Mezzmo under the various classifications like Genre, Artists , etc etc .

Can I delete Folder Music2 from the library since there is no content ?

In general can I delete any new folder besides the original classification folders when there is no content in them?

Yes, you can delete folders from Mezzmo - files that have been added from those folders should remain in the database and smart/active playlists should still show them.

Thanks. I am getting to know a bit more of Mezzmo.

I have just encountered a strange problem when playing music directly to the DLNA enabled Onkyo Rcvr. ( Today is the first time I connected the ethernet from the Onkyo to the router switch). When I pay the tracks from the Genre subfolder , the music only plays for less than 30 seconds , then skips to the next track , then to the next track and so on. However when I play the same tracks from the all music folder this does not happen .

This skipping also does not happen if I use the WDTV Live to the Onkyo Receiver instead of directly to the Onkyo .

Is there some setting I need to make in Mezzmo?

Just in case you wonder , when I play through the Onkyo directly, the WDTC Live is in off/standby mode so there is there is no overlap of signals to confuse the Onkyo rcvr

It's possible that those files are being transcoded and not played correctly because of that. When you are playing the same files from another folder, they have already been transcoded by the first attempt and thus play correctly. Please try playing some files you haven't played before from the "All Music" and see if same symptoms persist. If they do, you can pre-transcode your files in advance, so that they play properly.

The music files are in .flac format and the receiver specs says it will accept flac. However I notice that the stream says mp3 while playing so it is transcoding even though the rcvr accepts flac. I will change the rcvr music mode to direct and see what happens. Tks

New input after tying to change receiver music mode to Direct :

The receiver is unable to change over to direct mode so when an audio track is playing (Mezzmo server ) from my PC direct to the receiver, it will always transcode . The receiver display says "Playing from Server" So it seems that unless I pre transcode , playing newly added audio tracks will always result in incomplete play and skipping to next track after a few seconds. Hmmmmm.

Are you using the "Onkyo TX" device profile for your receiver? If you are, then FLAC files should be passed through natively. If you are using that profile and see MP3 on the device, please right-click on one of your FLACs in Mezzmo and post the output of the "Get FFmpeg Information" command.
