Default MP3 playback - "Cannot Read File"

    Hi,

I've copied my iTunes library over to my server running WHS 2011, connected via wired to a Panny DT30 television. Most of the tracks play correctly but any that are MP3 fail to play with the "Cannot Read File" message. If I pre-transcode they work, but that's a couple of GB worth and I'd rather not take up more server space than needed.

Here is the ffmpeg file - I'm guessing that the quality of the mp3 file is the issue, since the mp3 format is compatible on the TV? The mp3 files were downloaded from napster, rather than ripped from my CD collection.

I suppose I could burn them to CD and try and importback to iTunes but that will take a while. Is this a common issue?

That MP3 should be passed through natively to the TV and they should play on the TV, unless there's something with the actual encoding of that file which halts the TV's built-in player. If that's the case, then they'll have to be pre-transcoded, but that shouldn't take long.

Would it be possible for you to send one of those MP3s to support, so that we could test it here on our TVs?
