Thread: Movie information in folders

    Default Movie information in folders

    Hi all

VERY new to this streaming mullarkey, but I've recently got a new LG PK590 plasma TV with DLNA capability, so thought I'd join in the fun, but please bear with me if I ask a few daft questions

I'm currently on the trial for Mezzmo and have pointed it to my folders with my ripped mkv movies and it works fantastically for playback etc...brilliant so far!

At the moment, all I have within my movie folders are the individual mkv movie files. Is there a way to include some info on the movies I have within each of these folders, that I will be able to read/access from the TV?

    Thanks for any help

Most TVs/devices do not show any extended information (metadata) about movies, so most likely you won't benefit from adding it to the file's folders. You could try of course - see this page for a list of external metadata files that Mezzmo supports: http://www.conceiva.com/products/mez...p#MetadataRead

Hi Dennis, thanks for the reply and apologies for the delayed response.

I followed your link and downloaded Thumbgen to try as it was listed as supported, but I have tried a film I've recently converted to .mkv and put the film into a folder with the exact same name as the movie, generated the thumbsheet and now have a number of other files within the folder, a couple of jpegs (with the movie thumbnail and a wd_tv.jpeg that shows the generated info about the movie) an .nfo file and a .tgmd file of the movie name...

When I go to my TV in the other room and browse the Mezzmo server to find the newly done film, i still just see the movie.mkv file in there - nothing else. I've also got a Sony BluRay player and that also just sees the movie file....

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks again

I thought about what I was doing for a sec, then realised when I start to browse the mezzmo server, it presents me with the dialogue box asking to view Video, Music or Pictures. When I select 'Video' and then locate my movies folder, it is then only going to look for any video format files in there - and ignore all the others!! Doh....!

So I figured I'd add my Movies folder to my Pictures library in mezzmo and then browsed 'Pictures' to find the movie-sheet in the folder I'd processed earlier with Thumbgen! I then have to switch back to browse for 'Videos' and locate the same folder and launch my movie file.

Is this the correct way to do it, or is there a better way to do things?

    Thx

The LG TVs will only show a specific file type (e.g. only music or only videos), so there is no good way of doing this, apart from the solution you've found with switching between modes and remembering which folder and file you wanted to watch. Unfortunately this is out of Mezzmo's hands, so I cannot offer a better solution, sorry.

No, unfortunately Sony devices also use discrete browsing (when different media types are separated from each other).

Oh dear..... Well which devices/manufacturers of 'mainstream' DNLA hardware (ie. TV's etc...) DO support an easier way of being able to read the movie info, without then having to switch media types with Mezzmo (or ANY) servers??

For example Panasonic Viera TVs show all file types in the same folder.
