Thread: Panasonic tx-p42g30y + .srt + .mkv

    Default Panasonic tx-p42g30y + .srt + .mkv

    Hi,

I've been unable to get the .srt/.mkv combination to work.
Am i right that this cannot be done?

Everything is up to date, and mezzmo recognized my TV fine. Mezzmo doesn,t even transcode the file but video/audio plays fine.

I've tried mux'ing the two files with mkvmerge GUI, wich makes it work perfekt on my PC. But the tv will stay at zero minutes/seconds when trying to play the file.

Yes, unfortunately Panasonic TVs only support .SRTs for .AVI (DivX) files.

    Thats a shame.

Any idea why the mkv wont start playing after i've mux'ed the srt into the mkv? The funny thing is, even if the mkv never starts i can access the subtitles now.
On the PC the video works without a problem after mux'ing.

It's hard to say without seeing the file - can you please right-click on it in Mezzmo and post the output of the "Get FFmpeg Information" command? Also, please tell me which device profile you are using for your TV.

I don't see anything obviously wrong about the second file, so I'm not really sure why it doesn't start playback. The only difference is the bitrate on the second file. Also, the subtitle says "forced", not sure if that would make a difference. If you remove all subtitles from the file and try playing it, does it work?

I've change the subs to forced myselv, just to se if they would show.

Now i've tried to take the original file, and removed all the subs "eng/ita/spa", with the same result. The file wont start playing. I have change nothing in the setting for muxing. Just opened mkvmerge, pulled the file over and removed subs.

Just tried to put the file into mkvmerge and mux i without changing anything. No subs added or removed.
Same result, the new file wont play. So mkvmerge must be doing something to the file.

This is really not my area of expertise, any idea what mkvmerge could be doing?
Or any suggestion to another program like it, so i can se if the same thing happens?

Yes, sounds like MKVmerge is screwing something up in the file. Are you using the latest version?

Sorry, I can't recommend any particular program to add in subtitles, but perhaps some of our users have some suggestions and will reply here
