Default LG - Fast Forward and Reverse

    Hello!

I haven't seen any recent thread on this and LG devices, so I thought I'd chime in.

I have play and pause and stop ability, but no rewind or fast forward.

    Mezzmo 2.5.0, Windows 7 64.

MKV files played via a bluray player over a powerline AV network on a LG BD670 (Media Device is listed as LG Bluray (LPCM) ).

FWIW, the player plays out through an Onyko Reciever TX-SR508 via HDMI, and then to an LG 65LW6500 TV.

As a side note, I also notice occasionally when I hit STOP during movie playback, the movie stops, and the LG bluray player reports there was a problem with the server, and wants to return to the main menu. This isn't a big deal at all, stop is stop, but for bug testing, I thought I'd report it.

The rewind and fast forward, however, are an issue.

    Thanks!

Well, I have an LG home theater and I always had problems with the MKV rewind or fast forward, with some MKVs it functioned but not with others until I read a post (I forget where, sorry) that said that you have to pass your MKV through MkvMerge (mkvtoolnix) and applied them the --clusters-in-meta-seek option (Muxing -> Add command line options - search in the available options combo the --clusters-in-meta-seek and click add).

I always do that with all my MKVs and verify also that the language in the sound tracks has been set, and I have no problems now with the fast forward or rewind.

    I hope it helps.

    That's interesting. Thanks!

I already use mkvmerge - Mezzmo cannot yet mute subtitles or switch audio tracks - to make the files appropriate for viewing.

I'd love to hear if the fast forward / rewind this is a known issue, and slated to be remedied.

    Thanks again!

Does FF/REW work on native files and files that already have been transcoded (or pre-transcoded) or is it not working for even native files?

    Good Question.

I added the TranscodingFiles (C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Conceiva\Mezzmo\Tran scodingFiles) to Mezzmo and tried to play an MZT file from the video folder. The LG BD player did not recognize that the folder had any transcoded files in it (there was 1 file, 5.3 GB, which I can manually have VLC open on the host PC). Thus, I can't test....unless I am missing something.

    Thanks!

You should not add files from the special transcoding folder (C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Conceiva\Mezzmo\Tran scodingFiles). Mezzmo will not pick them up since they have a .MZT file extension and this is not a known media file extension. Rather, the Mezzmo application lets you control how you use and stream your transcoded files.

If you want to stream a transcoded file, then you need to do the following steps in Mezzmo:

    • Right-click on an original file in Mezzmo that you wish to steam and click Properties. This will display the 'Properties' dialog. Go to the Transcoding tab and see if there are any transcoded files for this original file. If there are, then you can select individual transcoded files and they will be set to 'Preferred'. When set to Preferred, this means that the selected transcoded file will be streamed to the device when you choose to play the original file on your device. This lets you test what transcoded files work and do not work.
    • If there are no transcoded files for an original file, then you can pre-transcode a file using the Pre-Transcode File dialog. Right-click on a original file in Mezzmo and click 'Pre-transcode File'. Then you need to select the device and format(s) you want to transcode to. All transcoding is displayed in the Transcoding pane in Mezzmo. After the file has completed transcoding, then the transcoded file will be set to Preferred and will be streamed to your device the next time you try to play the original file.
