Default Video screen shots for thumbnails versus DVD cover for thumbnails

    Hi Guys.....

I prefer viewing my video thumbnails with the original DVD cover rather than the default Mezzmo selected screen shot.

The manual way to do this is to go into the videos properties, select Get Online Video Metadata and search. This displays the DVD cover and you can select Use Image.

The problem i have is that i have allot of files and i want to know if there is an auto way of doing this.

The other problem is that i have done this on a few files and then hit Maintain Library and it deletes the DVD cover and reinstates the screen shot.

How can i do this easily to all my videos and maintain the DVD cover without it being replaced?

    Thanks

There is no automatic way to use the Get Online Video Metadata dialog. You can only use it manually at this stage. The reason that it is manual only is that Mezzmo does not typically have reliable keywords to automatically search for since from the video metadata or the video file name is often poor quality and would produce many erroneous coverart results.

Mezzmo does looks for and uses external album art & coverart files when you add files into your Mezzmo library or maintain your Mezzmo library. These external files are:
    • <filename>.jpg/.png
    • folder.jpg/.png
    • <filename>.nfo/.tbn (XBMC metadata/thumbnail files)
    • <filename>.tgmd (ThumbGen metadata files)
    • <filename>.xml/mymovies.xml/series.xml/episode.xml (where the xml describes the location of a coverart file)
    • <filename>.jpg/.png

You can add these files into the folders on your harddisk where your video files are and Mezzmo will pick them up automatically.

With regards your second problem, when you use Maintain Library if you choose "Update all files" then Mezzmo will update all files & overwrite any information that is already there. However, if you choose 'Only update files with missing information' that Mezzmo will not touch existing information you have and only fill in blank fields/artwork. Also, Mezzmo will only add artwork during maintenance if you have selected the 'Update artwork' checkbox. If not selected, then it will not touch your existing artwork.

Would there be a way to implement a semi automatic way in that it would process the files and just pop up whenever there are multiple finds or if nothing is found at all?

Thanks for the suggestion. We are looking at automating the Online Video Metadata dialog and will include this into a future version of Mezzmo.
