    Default Filtering Folders

I just reloaded Mezzmo to a new computer and moved my music files to the Public directory and updated the Mezzmo database. On my old system, I could exclude the folders for every artist in each Smartlist (Genre, Artist, etc.) and thus on my Blu-Ray player only display the songs in each folder, not the artist folders. Now I cannot seem to exclude the folders for each and every artist within each category. This can be quite tedious when using the player. I have been up and down through Mezzmo, but cannot find where this is filtered or set. When updating the database I left the box unchecked which appeared to filter this, but it seemed to have no effect. How can I filter out all of these folders so they do not display on my Blu-ray player?

Sorry, I am not sure exactly what you mean, but here are possibly two related settings that may help:

    • You can stop certain folders/playlists being listed on devices by right-clicking on the playlist/folder in the tree in Mezzmo and clicking 'Playlist Sharing Permissions'.
    • You can display files only at the lowest level of active playlists using the 'Only list files at the lowest level for active playlists' checkbox in the Options dialog (General page).

Let me know if I have misunderstood your question & I will help further.

The second bullet was the first thing I tried which in the past seemed to work fine. I will check the first bullet tonight. It seems to appear on the Mezzmo screen the same way it does on my Blu-Ray player. This can/will be a real issue as my player will only handle about 1M of songs at a time (about 1k files). The other issue is that I mostly play in random mode, and with files shown it appears I can only play by artist as within each genre it lists every artist folder within that genre. I would think that if I have the second bullet selected I should only see the music files themselves on my Blu-Ray.

I am going to do some re-testing tonight and see what happens. When I installed Mezzmo the first time on my old computer it did this, and then at one point it seemed to kind of clean itself up and work. I am going to first try and run the Maint update and see what happens with bullet 2 selected.

When you have the 'Only list files at the lowest level for active playlists' checkbox in the Options dialog (General page) selected, then both your Mezzmo application and your devices will only display files at the lowest level of your active playlists.

Let me know how your testing goes.

I reconfirmed and retested last night. With that flag set as above, the upper level files (by artist) are in the Mezzmo database as Active folders. I tested both as "update" and "fresh data base update" with no difference. I did solve the problem via workaround though. If I created Smart Playlists by Genre, every genre, and Mezzmo created these with no upper folders and simply the music files which allows me to play random music of specific genres. I then renamed the Active playlist Genre as Genre_Artist. Previously, the Active genre playlist worked this way, but for whatever reason doesn't now. I am fairly satisfied that I now have a working solution, but had to create quite a number of Smart playlists.......I will commend you guys in that it appears you added some more flexibility and more categories to the Smartlist pull downs, allowing me to apply more specifice filter criteria....nice!

I did some more testing last night and have determined what causes this. In the Active playlist "Genre", there is a secondary filter "Artist". If you remove "Artist" the folders are then not displayes, simply the songs within the category. The only frustration I have is it took me quite a while to figure this out and in that time have relaoded; updated; diddled, etc!
