Question Windows 8 Consumer Beta and Mezzmo.

Is anyone having any luck with getting Mezzmo to work with a Microsoft Live login on Windows 8? I can get Mezzmo to work just fine on a local user account just not with Microsoft live login. I understand that Windows 8 is in beta but I just feel that there should be a simple fix, something that I'm missing. I have been working on this for a good month now. I'm just getting a little frustrated. I have really enjoyed using Windows 8 and I will not switch back to Windows 7 just to have Mezzmo work correctly. But on the other hand I am really missing Mezzmo. I have been forced to use Serviio which works well with Windows 8, but the program is lacking in many ways.

Problem seems to stem from how the Mezzmo service and the program meet within the system. If you just try to set everything up as you would normally the Mezzmo service will never login even if login is correct, and therefore the service will never start. I have been able to get the service start by going into the service properties and switching at to a locally started process. But then it appears that the Mezzmo program itself in the service will not match up. For instance with the process started that way you will be able to see all the folders and everything as you normally would before the user customizes them the way he or she would want, but there will be no files showing; no matter how you might have your folders and files set up on Mezzmo the program..

I know some of this might seem a little confusing and I apologize, I'm a little tired this evening, but I would appreciate any help. And I look forward to an update Mezzmo soon. Maybe that will solve the issue.

    Thank you.

We do have many users successfully running Mezzmo on Windows 8. The trick is to go into the user account screen in Windows 8 and reset your login to local user and remove the Windows live id login.

We will fully support Windows 8 as soon as Windows 8 gets nearer to its release date.

I understand and I have done that myself, at one point. But the point of my post was trying to find a way to get around this. Using the Windows Live ID for your login allows you use a lot of the Windows 8 features. If you just use the local you do not get complete access to Xbox live, Live e-mail, Zune Pass, and many more applications.

Understand your wish for Windows 8 Live ID accounts to work with Mezzmo. We will endeavor to make this work. For the moment though, you will have to continue to use a Local User account until we formally support Windows 8 as a supported platform. We will be looking into Windows 8 platform support for Mezzmo very soon.
