Default Sony Bravia KDL55EX720 Fast Forward issue

    Hi,

I am new to Mezzmo and is evaluating the software. When I tried to fast forward a video, it would somehow freeze and I cannot resume or do anything but to stop the video and restart from the beginning. I tried that on AVI, MP4, and RMVB files. I just wonder if there is anything I can do in Mezzmo to fix that?

    Thank you.

    Eddie

    Hi Eddie,

If you try to FF/REW a file that is transcoding on-the-fly, then some devices may either not let you do that, or may stop playing the video altogether, or may start from the beginning. The reason is that you may be trying to fast-forward to a point in the video that has not been transcoded as yet so your DLNA device rejects this request and takes some sort of corrective action.

One solution is to pre-transcode your video file before you stream it. To pre-transcode a file, right-click on the file in Mezzmo and click 'Pre-transcode Files'.

If no success, please send us a set of logs and we will be able to know what is going wrong. Turn on logging (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Stream a video to your TV and try fast forwarding. When it fails as you mention, stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up all the logs and send them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

Ah ha! That makes sense! Thanks Paul!

If I pre-transcode, where does Mezzmo store the transcoded file(s)?

Update: I found the folder in the Transcoding Settings menu option. Thanks

Glad you found the transcoded files folder.

You can also right-click on a file in Mezzmo and click Properties. In the Properties dialog, to to the Transcoding tab and you will see all the transcoded files for the selected file.
