Default Why not amend the official downloadable version?

    Hi Brent!

I am a new DS user, so forgive me if this has been answered before.

I notice that there is a trait on these forums to post fixes (a Firefox fix, a YouTube fix, etc.) instead of amending the officially downloadable version. Why is that? The current version of DS is v7.0.5.0 and posting fixes here seems to be making things much more difficult for us, buying customers, as we cannot be visiting the forum all the time to find and implement manually new fixes.

    Your comments are welcome.

    Kind Regards,
    aficionado

    Hi Aficionado,

You are right, we should have built a new version with these fixes included and also released the update through our auto update for existing users. Previously we have always supplied fixes using these techniques.

The reason we didn't make a new DownloadStudio 7 was at the time these fixes were made we were just about the release a new DownloadStudio 8 which was a free upgrade and would include all patches as well as some new features. Unfortunately V8 got delayed a couple of times, it is now in beta, so hopefully a full release is not too far away. Apologies for these delays.

    Best Regards,

    Brent

    Hi Aficionado,

Unfortunately I can't give you a final release date, however you can upgrade to the beta now, we have done a limited beta test release and it is relatively stable. It is available here:

    1. Download the following file:

    http://www.conceiva.com/downloads/downloadstudio.zip

    2. Important, don't unzip this file, Rename the file's extension to be .xpi instead of .zip, you should then have a file named 'downloadstudio.xpi'.

    3. Copy the file into the DownloadStudio program folder (over the existing downloadstudio.xpi)

    4. Drag and drop this file onto Firefox (Or use the web browser integration dialog in DownloadStudio)
