Default Unable to discover Mezzmo service from my Samsung TV

    Hi,

i just bought Samsung series 6 (UA40C6900). It has DLNA/Internet@TV/Network Features.

However when i tried to browse my movie/music library using

mezzmo my TV does not recognize it. But when i tried with TV***ty, the TV can see both my library and My PC media player library.

At the moment i am using the trial version of the software, i am consider using this because it can broadcast mkv, while others (see above) doesn't

    I have tried everything from:
    - Unblock my mezzmo on my firewall list
    - turn off my firewall
    - turn off anti virus + firewall completely
    - I already make sure that the service is up and running correctly and has admin privilege.
    - Choose differnet profile in mezzmo server configuration (Samsung B, Samsung C, WDTV)

Does anyone know what seems to be the problem here?

    Hi,

Thanks for your support, i just got back from work. I tried it and it works. Now my TV can discover the service.

There is one thing however, Mezzmo doesn't seems to ignore *.mkv files, instead it transcode it as well. Hence this can slow down the performance. When i tried to watch *mkv (h264 codec), i need to wait like for 30 mins or so otherwise the movie will only be played half.

I've tried to go to Media Server -> Transcoding Setting -> tick "turn off transcoding for all connected devices" (no luck, instead my tv giving me message "Error: Unsupported Format"). I have tried to play the same exact file using my USB and it works flawlessly, My TV supports mkv (H264)

Then i also tried Media Server -> Media Devices.. -> Edit my devices -> Advanced -> Choose Always to all options but Deliver DLNA baseline format to the devices (also no joy)

Other than that this software seems perfect.

ps: i also tried different profile like Generic Device #1 - 4, Samusung B & C, WDTV Live, all give me similar result.

Can you please tell me if you have a B or a C series (or an A) and I'll post a modified device profile for it here? I assume you've got a B, and MKV was disabled in the device profile for it previously (thus they were transcoded), but please do confirm which series you have.

Also, please undo all the changes in the Advanced tab, because that may change the way the TV requests files and even the updated device profile may not work (normally no changes are required there).

I think it's C series, because when i checked it at the samsung australia, they only list it as Series 5, 6, 7 ,8

But judging from the product code UA40C6900 i think it should be C series. But i'll find out more about it first..

Yes, it's a bit confusing - I'm trying to find the relation between these as well. It seems that Samsung has different model naming schemes for LED and LCD TVs (and Plasmas as well), so when I am talking about A, B, C series, I actually mean LCD TV series, e.g. LA46C650, but I don't know how they relate to LED TVs and whether the firmware is the same or whether they need different device profiles altogether. I'll try to research this as well - might just go to a shop and visually see the Media Player

according to this post by this bloko at http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showp...9&postcount=60

The LCD/LED/Plasma line up for 2010 are:

    LN37C650
    LN40C650
    LN46C650
    LN55C650

    LN37C630
    LN40C630
    LN46C630
    LN55C630
    LN60C630

    LN46C750
    LN55C750

    Samsung LED series 6,7,8,9:

    UN32C6500
    UN40C6500
    UN46C6500
    UN55C6500

    UN40C7000
    UN46C7000
    UN55C7000

    UN40C8000
    UN46C8000
    UN55C8000
    UN65C8000

    UN46C9000 ( metal color Bezel, 3/16" thick !! )
    UN55C9000 ( metal color Bezel, 3/16" thick !! )

I think C means 2010 line up. Last year LCD line up of samsung have B tag in the middle.
The naming convention however may varies depending on your location. UK naming convention will have something like LE40C750 instead UN46Cxxxx...

    http://www.zimbio.com/High-Definitio...msung+TV+names

here's a good link which explans about the naming convention, but unfortunately it only applies for european / US market. While for the rest of us who live in Asia / Pasific, apparently Samsung has something different. Bugger......

Btw, how can i modify profiles for my Mezzmo? since all i got is list of presets..

    Thanks for the great info!

A very interesting question that's on my mind is whether the LED and LCD TVs share firmware (especially the Media Player) or not? The numbers of the firmware look different, so I can't be sure whether it's the same or not.

FWIW, out test Samsung TV here is LA32C550J1F, which is the base for our "Samsung C" device profile.

To modify device profiles, just edit them directly - they're located in a folder as per this thread: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...ofiles-located - if you need any help, please let me know. Also, the server needs to be restarted to pick up the change in device profiles.
