Thread: Windows Reinstallation

    Default Windows Reinstallation

If I reinstall windows on my computer, will I lose all my pretranscoded files. I have everything backed up, and my transcoded files are store on another drive, but I'm wondering if mezzmo will recognize it after a fresh install.

You should be fine - as long as you make a backup of your Mezzmo database folder and your Mezzmo transcoding folder. After you re-install Mezzmo, you should restore these backed up folders back to their correct location. Let us know if you have any problems.

where is the data base folder located so i can make sure it is backed up, will this keep me from having to reimport all my movies as well?

    Mezzmo database folder location:

    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Conceiva\Mezzmo (for Win8/Win7/Vista)
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Conceiva\Mezzmo (for Win XP)

Yes - if you restore this folder, then your Mezzmo library will be restored and you will not have to re-import your media files (assuming that your media files still exist at the same location on your computer/NAS/etc.)

Ok so i moved over the mezzmo folder and it had all my media in there, but nothing is transcoded, the transcode folder is on a removable drive, and it did not get reformatted, and I checked and it is pointing to the right folder, but its not recognizing any of my transcodes. the only thing i can think of is that now the drive has a different letter assigned to it, if this is the cause, is there a way to fix this or should i just delete that folder and start over.

If the drive letter has changed, then that will be the reason for the missing transcoded files. We can fix this for you if you like. Please email us the "MezzmoTranscode.db" file from your original setup to support [at] conceiva [dot] com. In your email, also tell us the location of new your transcoding folder (e.g. Z:\transcoded_files\) so we know how to change the database with the new location.

I actually just remapped the drive back to the letter it was before, and it works in mezzmo, the transcoded files show for everything. However now on all my blu ray players I have two different instances of mezzmo, not sure why, and also its not playing any of the moveis, even .mpg moveis which are nativly supported by both blu ray players, I get a file type not supported error.

The two Mezzmo icons on your device can be due to having multiple network cards/adaptors in your computer (e.g. Ethernet and wireless). If this is the case, then go to the Media Devices dialog and edit your device. Change the Network adaptor from 'Automatic' to your preferred network adaptor. Restart your Mezzmo server and your Blu-ray players to see if that is better.

If you have Sony devices (Blu-ray players, TV or PS3) and the multiple Mezzmo icon problem persists, then email us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com and we'll supply you with a patch to fix this problem. In your email, please also include a set of logs so we can see why your video files are not playing. Turn on logging in Mezzmo (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging) and restart Mezzmo. Try to stream a video and when it fails, stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up all the logs and email then to us.
