Beginner Question

OK, so I'm completely new to Mezzmo but came across it while looking to stream from my PC to a Blu-Ray player. Please help me if I'm not understanding this but my idea of how to make this work, is as follows:

1. Purchase Mezzmo and install it on my PC.
2. Through Mezzmo, share folder(s) that contain movies, music, etc.
3. Purchase a Blu-Ray player that supports DLNA.
4. Install an app for Mezzmo on the Blu-Ray player and stream the movies from the PC.

Is that pretty much it? Do I have to install an app on the Blu-Ray player or will it just recognize Mezzmo? If you have any other information that I'm leaving out, I'd appreciate the help.

Correct - or perhaps try the 15-day trial version to make sure you like it before buying it. It's fully featured so you play with all features.

2. Through Mezzmo, share folder(s) that contain movies, music, etc.

Correct - add your folders into Mezzmo or tell Mezzmo to scan you folders and it will pick up all your media files (videos, music & photos). It will also collect metadata from your files so that your Mezzmo library is nicely organized. You can also create playlists so you can find all your favorite files.

3. Purchase a Blu-Ray player that supports DLNA.

Correct - or purchase a TV that has DLNA (most do now), or get a dedicated media player (like a WD TV Live), or use your Android/iOS tablet, smartphone, etc. See http://www.conceiva.com/products/mez...icesupport.asp for a list of devices that we support.

Not correct - Blu-ray players that support DLNA don't need anything installed. The same goes for TVs. Your Android/iOS tablet or smartphone will need an app.

Also, make sure you have your Blu-ray player and PC connected to your home network. We recommend using Ethernet cables for fast, stable streaming (especially if you plan to stream HD 1080p movies). If that's not possible, then wireless-N with full signal strength will work.

Thanks for the information. I downloaded the trial over the weekend and have it streaming on my DirecTV receivers and Blu-ray player.

I do have one question though. The first time I tested it, I played a movie and it came up just fine. After a minute or so, I got out of it because I was just seeing if it worked. Since then, I cannot play that movie on my DirecTV receivers or Blu-ray player. It tells me the "The video (movie name) could not be played successfully" and "The file is corrupt or unsupported" on the receivers and Blu-ray player, respectively. Do you know what would cause this? It's an .avi file and I can play it just fine on my PC so I know the file isn't corrupt.

Try this: In Mezzmo, right-click on the video and click Properties. Go to the Transcoding tab and delete all transcoded files for this video file. Now try to stream the file and see if works better. Let us know how you go.
