Default DVD ISO: Not All Titles Showing

Thanks for the ability to play DVD ISO files; it's nice not having to convert DVDs to other formats in order to play them. Most of the ISO files I've tried work fine, but one, "ROSE_RED_DISC_1," only shows one title, and that one isn't the actual beginning of the disc. The second disc for the movie shows all three titles. There shouldn't be anything missing from the first ISO, since it's nearly 8 GB in size. Any ideas?

While I'm at it, I have two questions concerning playing ISO files with Mezzmo:

    1. I assume Mezzmo defaults to the first audio track. Would it be possible to choose a different track (I have some DVDs that have a DTS track).

    2. Is there a possibility of adding Blu-ray ISO playback capability in the future? I ripped one just to try it, and of course it didn't work. I realize the files are huge (45 GB for the one I ripped), but it would be nice to have some of my most-watched Blu-rays on my NAS and not have to worry about popping the disc in every time. Of course, some of the difficulty would be being able to select the correct audio track (as in my first question); my receiver and sound bar are both DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD capable.

Thanks in advance for your help with my issue and for considering the additional features I mentioned.

In Mezzmo v3.0, we do skip over any videos on the DVD that are under 15 minutes long (most of the time they are introductions/copyright warnings/etc.). Does this DVD have many small length videos? We may need to tweak this a little.

Regarding playing a different audio channel for a video, right-click on the video in Mezzmo and click Properties. Go to the Video tab and you can select the audio (or video) channel that you want streamed. This preferred channel will be used when transcoding the video to other formats for your DLNA device to play. If your device does not let you choose audio channels using your remote control when playing your video, then you should also select the 'Only stream the preferred channels to devices' checkbox. This tells Mezzmo to always only stream the selected channels to devices - even if your device supports this video format. This does mean that Mezzmo will transcode the video file (possibly just remux it) so that you get your preferred channels played.

Regarding Blu-ray ISO playback, we certainly plan to add this into a future version of Mezzmo.

    Thanks for the detailed response.

As it turns out, it doesn't play properly in my DVD software (selecting the first chapter does nothing); I'll rip it again (perhaps with changing some AnyDVD options) and report back.

I selected DTS (and forced it). Mezzmo must now be converting that track to ac3 so the players can use it (aac and ac3 were the only pre-transcoding options for the players, so "native" DTS must not be an option).

Thanks for reporting back. Regarding transcoding your DTS to AC3, that will be the case if the device profile only supports encoding to this format.

Concerning "ROSE_RED_DISC_1," it turns out there is a problem ripping this particular disc (confirmed by a Google search)... only the first hour and a half or so of the first disc is playable. In addition to AnyDVD I tried ripping using Pavtube; same result. I guess when I want to watch this particular disc I'll need to actually insert it into the player.

Thanks for confirming the DVD problem was in fact a DVD problem

It was just a coincidence that the first DVD I ripped happened to be a known PITA ripping-wise. I had some other ISOs already, but most of those consisted of just one long title.

As an update (3.0.1), I ripped "MILLENNIUM_DISC_1," and all of the titles showed up fine (and after playing the first, it continued on to the next).

For me, the ability to play ISOs through my BD players is extremely useful. The X-Files, for example, is on Netflix, so (for now at least) I don't need to rip all of my discs in order to watch it. If something I watch regularly is not on Netflix or Amazon for streaming (free with my account, that is), I can rip the disc(s) and have the convenience of watching it without the physical media.

Glad it is working well. From all the discussion and feedback we've recently received, DVD + ISO streaming is proving a very popular new feature in Mezzmo
