Default Sorting Various Artist Compilation Albums

I seem to be on here asking a question every day. Thanks for your help thus far.

A question related to how music is sorted and listed today. I have some play lists created to give me various scenarios such being able to select tracks by browsing Artist --> Album. These work great.

BUT in the instance of compilation albums (various artist albums) where the artists on the album are all different - what is the best way to handle these? I don't want a separate entry for each artist as many have only one track and it just messes up my directory. In these instances I want to be able to select Various Artists....then the album.... but I also need to still know that artist.

    Any tips? Thanks.

I'd probably try creating an Active Playlist with keywords "Album" -> "Artist" and see if that gets you the result you wish. If not, please let me know what you'd like to see.

Hi Dennis. That does indeed group the album together. But doesn't get around the initial problem of every artist being listed even though there is one track by them in the entire library instead of grouping them under 'Various Artists'. In the same way say.. iTunes does by have both a 'Artist' field and a 'Album Artist' field.

Can you please send me a screenshot from iTunes, since I'm still not sure what you mean Do you mean that artists get their own playlist (folder) even if there's only one track in it?
