    Default Sony Bravia KDL-Z5100 transcoding

Z5100 won't work with any of the Sony Bravia transcoding profiles. Anything I can do to get it going?

    Thanks.

We'll need some more information to pinpoint the problem. What does not work? Can you connect to Mezzmo from your TV and browse folders/playlists? Files are listed? Certain files do not play? (Right-click on the file in Mezzmo and click 'Get FFmpeg Information' and post the information her problem files)

Connect - yes, browse folders - yes, files listed - no.

If I recall correctly, Z5100 series supports only MPEG2 (or was it 1) for remote played content. Don't know if this helps, though.

    Thanks.

Regarding no files listed, one possible reason is if your files are coming from a NAS drive or another computer, then the reason may be due to access permissions. See http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...r-home-network.

If this model only supports MPEG-2, then try the baseline device profile 'Generic Device (NTSC)' or 'Generic Device (PAL)'. Go to Media Devices dialog to change the device profile.

Let us know how you go.

Generic NTSC works for browsing and playing files. However,

    a) no play control (FF, Rewind etc) - which is just annoying but not critical, and
    b) no subtitles at all. Tried with Burn on and off, nothing helped.

Any suggestion how to get around these? At least #b.

    Thanks

    Some answers:

    a) If your video files are not MPEG-2, then Mezzmo is transcoding them on-the-fly into MPEG-2 when you play them (since you are using the generic device profile). When transcoding on-the-fly, some devices don't let you FF/REW. Once fully transcoded, the next time you play the file, the fully transcoded file is delivered and you should be fine to FF/REW. The workaround to this is to pre-transcode your files beforehand and then play them. To pre-transcode a file, right-click on the file and click 'Pre-transcode Files'. To pre-transcode a playlist/folder of files, right-click on the playlist/folder and click 'Pre-transcode Playlist'. After pre-transcoding has completed, try streaming your files and see how you go.

    b) Go to the Media Devices dialog in Mezzmo and edit your Sony TV. In the Device Settings dialog, go to the Subtitles tab and turn off "Stream external subtitles" and make sure "Burn subtitles into videos" is checked. That tells Mezzmo to burn subtitles. Also, go to the Transcoding tab in Device Settings, and delete your transcoded files. Now when your pre-transcode or stream a video, it will have the associated subtitles burnt into the video. Two other things to check: In the Device Settings dialog (Subtitles tab), make sure you have your preferred language set for your subtitles. And, right-click on a video and click Properties. In the Properties dialog (Subtitles tab), make sure you see your subtitles listed and the language for each one is set.
