Default ISO chaptering and FF/FR + delay in detection of mezzmo server + idx/sub subtitles

    Hi there forum!

I got some minor issues with mezzmo which i'd like to get cleared up

    Info:
    Samsung D8000 TV
Win 8 Laptop running the Mezzmo server
Samsung BD 8500N PVR (Automatically setup by mezzmo to use the Samsung C device profile)

First of all, i'd like to ask if it's possible to fast forward/reverse, or do chaptering when playing iso files? (The gapless multi-file thingy..) At least i can't figure it out, i don't get options to do so when playing..

Second, my BD8500N (And PS3) detects the mezzmo server instantly, but somethings up with the TV. If i start with deleting all the devices from the list, then restart the server, the list gets populated by my PS3 and the BD8500N (and my network adapters..) But NOT my TV.. I have to wait 5-10 minutes, before it pops up on the list, but then it's just recognised as a generic device and i have to choose the profile (samsung D) manually.
If i stop the server (and close mezzmo) for a while, then open up mezzmo again, the TV still fails to detect the server, until 5-10 mins has passed. I figure this is an issue with my TV, as the server is detected instantly by the BD8500N and PS3, but i've gone through all settings on the TV and found nothing to help with this issue.
So, not really sure if anything can be done with this..

One last thing. I have a few mkvs with subtitles in the idx + sub format, which doesn't show on my TV during playback. I don't transcode my mkvs, as the TV plays them just fine. The subs do work, because if i playback directly on my computer, they show up. I have a set of idx/sub which includes 4 languages, which can be switched in between on the computer, but still nothing on the TV.
Is this because they're delivered directly to the TV which doesn't (??) support idx subs? Is there any way to just transcode the subs, so they will show up?

I hope i've explained my problems well enough

Otherwise, thankyou for an EXCELLENT product, any chance to see a linux version sometime?

    Glad you like Mezzmo.

You should be able to FF/REW in ISO files. One reason you may not be able to is that the ISO file is being transcoded on-the-fly when you are streaming it. Check the Transcoding pane in Mezzmo when you are streaming it and that will tell you if it is transcoding. Once it is fully transcoded, then next time you play it, you will be able to FF/REW.

Your Samsung D should be auto-detected. Please send us a set of logs as follows: Turn on logging (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Delete all devices from Mezzmo and wait until all your devices are discovered (esp. your Samsung D TV). Check the Media Devices dialog to see what devices are discovered. Then, stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

We don't know if any devices that can display streamed idx + sub external subtitle files. And, to our current knowledge, we don't think Samsung D-series TVs can play embedded idx + sub in any video containers either, so you are left with burning the subtitles into the video before streaming the file to your TV. You can do this by pre-transcoding your file - right-click on the video in Mezzmo and click 'Pre-transcode Files'.

(And, no chance to see a Linux version anytime soon )

Okay, i did the logging as you said

My PS3 and BD8500N won't show in the logs..
One thing i noticed though, now the TV detected the server instantly again, it appears on the list, but shows up just like i edited it (i renamed it and set the profile to Samsung D) - I'll send the logs, but i guess that you won't find errors, as the TV detects it now??

    Thanks

OK - so your TV is detected fine but your PS3 and Samsung BDP are not. Are your PS3 and Samsung BDP on a different network than your TV? (e.g. wired vs. wireless, or different subnet). In the Media Devices dialog, are you allowing new devices to connect to Mezzmo? Make sure the "Allow new devices to connect" checkbox is checked.

A set of logs will help us so please do email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

Oh sorry! I can see how my last response was misleading What i meant with the BD8500N and the PS3 not showing in the logs, was that they weren't turned on during the restart of the server (on purpose), so obviously they wouldn't show up under media devices..
I sent the logs btw, in the situation where the TV detects the server instantly with my manually edited device profile.

And as i said, the TV detects the server instantly now, and it shows up in the media devices list - but it appear exactly as after i edited the profile (so i guess that my edited profile is saved somewhere?)
The issue is that if i didn't edit the profile, the TV takes a long time to appear on the media devices list and it's categorized as a "generic" device. And the TV won't detect the server.. Only after i edit the device profile and restart the server, the TV detects it

Again, it's not a big issue (mostly because i can get it to work in the end anyway), but i'm just curious as to why it behaves like this, because i havn't had this issue before. And the delay in detection time puzzled me

Thanks for the clarification. Your logs look fine. Can you also zip up and email us your modified device profile? Thank may give us a hint at what went wrong.

Errm, well, again i think i wasn't clear in my description, sorry!

I didn't edit the device profile file itself (the one in /..../programdata/conceiva/mezzmo/deviceprofiles)
The only thing i did was, in the "media devices" dialog, when the TV finally showed up (as a generic device - i knew which it was via the ip address) i edited the properties of that device. Changed the name and then what device profile it should use. After choosing "Samsung D" it worked fine.
    .9
And i'm just saying, mezzmo must store this information from the media devices dialog, because after deleting the profiles and restarting the server, the TV is deteced with the new name i gave it and with the chosen device profile

Anyways, i won't bother you more with this, i'm sure it is an issue with the TV and not Mezzmo and besides, it's working now

Thankyou for your time and patience
