Default Mezzmo Data Files Backup Application

In the past I've needed to backup the Mezzmo data files but haven't found an easy way to do this. I've noticed a number of others also asking for similar functionality in these forums. In my spare time at work I decided to whip up a program to make this process as simple as possible. What I've created is Mezzmo Backup.

It's not pretty, but it works and I can't break it, in the limited testing environment I've tried it in. Clicking the [?] button will provide some basic usage instructions as well as some other information.

I have run this past the fantastic guys at Conceiva and have their permission to share this program with the Mezzmo community.

Please Note: Conceiva were not involved in the creation of this software (beyond advice/recommendations) and do not support it in any way. I'm happy for people to reply to this post with faults/suggestions/etc and I will do what I can to help.

Please also be aware that I will not be held responsible for any loss or damage which occurs as a result of installing and/or using this software. I can assure you there is nothing malicious hidden within and I've released it as freeware to benefit the Mezzmo community.

You can download it from ...

I recently dropped a drive and had to use my application to restore my Mezzmo files. Luckily, this worked perfect except for one small issue I found.

As I lost the drive with my Mezzmo database on it, I restored it to a drive with a different letter, and path. All this meant was that I had to change two paths inside the .ini file that was restored to reflect the current path.
I will update my application to make these changes automatic in the near future and will let you all know when it's released.

Restoring to the same location, such as after database corruption, works fine.

Is this still available - I'm about to migrate to a completely new PC & OS

Or does the embedded mezzmo backup now cover things and its as simple as backing up database then restore them like the FAQ post seems to imply?

The Backup & Restore features in the current version of Mezzmo will backup & restore your Mezzmo database and artwork files. See http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?...ezzmo_database. Note:It will not backup your transcoded files. You will have to do this manually if you wish to keep them. See this wiki post to do this - http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?...anscoded_files
