Default Odd issue since buying Mezzmo. After 4m20s video playback stutters until mouse moved

    Hey there guys,

I have an issue where playback can be fine for a certain period, but then playback will stutter repeatedly after a certain timeframe. Basically, after 4m20s the playback stutters terribly. I just paused the film, and then played again, which sometimes sorted it, but mostly didn't. Anyway, I stumbled across the fact that something on my PC is interfering with the playback after a certain amount of time... and when moving the mouse on my laptop, the movie continues to play perfectly... EVERY time!! So, it's nice to have something repeatable... but I never got this with the trial version of Mezzmo that I used to run... but a lot has changed since then. I'm on Win 8 now, after a complete format, so it's tricky to tell what is the problem.

I've disabled all power saving from my laptop, also disabled real-time virus checks. Don't have any other virus software installed. Also uninstalled Microsoft Intellipoint software as I have had major problems with that interfering with other software in the past... but none of that helps.

So, has anyone else got this same issue? And if not, have you Mezzmo guys got any ideas as to what else I can change settings-wise that can stop this?

    Thanks for your help,
    Tim

What happens if you exit the Mezzmo application using File/Exit menu item, but keep Mezzmo server running? Try stream a video now and see if the problem still occurs. That will tell us if the problem is related to the Mezzmo application.

Mezzmo Android: Install it on your tablet, smartphone, Android TV or Amazon Fire to browse and stream files from your Mezzmo library to all your devices. Full details at http://www.conceiva.com/products/mez...mo_android.asp

Okay, I tried replicating the issue with the same video file the other day, and couldn't replicate it at all. I have changed a setting on my router and all SEEMS well so far. If I run into the issue again, I'll make sure I try closing the application, and let you know if it fixes it.

OK - let us know if you can reproduce it & we'll look into it.

I'm getting this issue again... it's exactly 4m 14 seconds in, the video starts stuttering... but if I go to the PC it's streaming from and move the mouse, the video begins playing smoothly again... until 4 minutes later. Yesterday I definitely didn't have the actual mezzmo application open, purely just the server running as a service. So I guess it's not a mezzmo app issue. It definitely seems like it's a windows and mezzmo problem, but I've turned off ALL power saving on my laptop, and never got this when I was running Windows 7.

Do you have any further ideas of what I could try?

I've turned off the firewall on my Router, just in case it was blocking streams after a certain amount of time, but this didn't change anything.

Updated to latest version of Mezzmo, and now it doesn't appear to be doing it... but the audio is now out of sync on the video. Will mess with some settings and try other things.

I've now tried streaming through my xbox, and it's all fine so far... so the issues mainly appear on my Panasonic TX-P42GT30B

I don't know of any improvements in the current version of Mezzmo (v3.2.0.0) that would have fixed your issue. Perhaps it is a coincidence.

I think another program on your PC is affecting your computer's performance enough that it is taking CPU and/or memory from Mezzmo server and this slows down streaming - hence the stuttering starts to occur. Do you have a screensaver set to run on your PC? Wiggling your mouse will stop the screensaver, so that may be the clue to suggest your screensaver is affecting performance. Go to Windows Control Panel and turn off your screen saver and turn off any power management settings. Also, close any other running programs - including any active/dynamic apps/widgets that may be on your desktop/tiles.

If it still happens, then please turn on logging in Mezzmo (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Stream a video and wait for the stuttering to occur. When it occurs, stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up all your logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

These were my thoughts too. I never have any power saving features on my laptop... so have turned them all off. No screensaver, no power saving on idle... no anything!! I was wondering if there were any features built into Windows 8 (as it's a tablet/mobile OS) that cause any settings to power save and can only be accessed via the registry???
I know my Wacom tablet has issues with Windows 8 because it's inherently a touch screen version of Windows... and some stuff cannot be disabled easily, or at all!!!

Other problems i have with streaming, are... it works fine on my Xbox, but not as nice over the Panasonic TV. I get sound that is out of sync on the TV but not on the Xbox.

All of this was fine when I was using the demo of Mezzmo from ages ago, and was on Windows 7. Quite frustrating really.

Will try and get an error log the next time it occurs, but it's tricky to know when it's going to do it.

Regarding the out-of-sync audio on your Panasonic TV, please post the FFmpeg information on a video that gets audio out of sync. To do this, right-click on the video in Mezzmo and click 'Get FFmpeg Information'. Also, tell us the device profile being used for your TV in Mezzmo. Go to the Media Devices dialog to see this.
