Thread: External metadata support broken...

    Default External metadata support broken...

The external metadata support seems broken of late. Anyone else see this?

I noticed it when I did a "Maintain Library" function and it stripped out a lot of my existing metadata and replaced it with incorrect artwork, title names and even language.

    What happened?

We haven't had any reports of this as yet. As a test, right-click on a folder or playlist in the tree in Mezzmo and click 'Maintain Playlist'. In the Maintain dialog, click the 'Metadata Retrieval Settings' button and check what metadata is being retrieved by Mezzmo. Click OK to start the playlist/folder maintenance. After it completes, double-click on a file in the playlist/folder and see if the right metadata has been retrieved.

OK - we'll investigate this further. To help us, please turn on logging (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Exit Mezzmo application and then start it again. Maintain your library and when it completes, stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up all logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

It was this "Test" that caused the problem in the first place. I'm not going to enable any more maintenance because I had to manually apply metadata to hundreds of videos that I don't intend to do again, thank you. As for the metadata settings, I'm using the defaults.

Here's a possible clue. A manual metadata search appends the ?production year? of the title to the title name during the search. This causes the search to come up empty until you edit out the year. What's this all about?

We add the year into the 'Get Online Video Metadata' dialog when doing a movie search to help narrow down the search results. If there's no search results with the year, then we remove the year to broaden the search.

When maintaining your library, if you wish to keep you existing metadata for your files in your Mezzmo library and just find & add metadata for blank entries, then make sure you select the "Only update files with missing information" radio button. If your select the "Update all files" radio button, then Mezzmo will overwrite your existing metadata with the metadata that Mezzmo finds embedded in your files, from external metadata files (.XML/.NFO/.TGMD) and from online web sites like imdb.com and thetvdb.com.
