    Default MP4 doesn't play on Samsung LE40B650

I tried playing some .MP4 files on my Samsung LE40B650 through Mezzmo, but unfortunately it says on my tv that the filetype is not supported. One file I tried plays fine with an USB-Stick directly connected to the tv.

Maybe you can help me with that.

    My FFmpeg-informations are:

Check you are using the 'Samsung B' device profile. Go to the Media Devices dialog to check this.

Playing a file via a USB drive and streaming via DLNA is not the same. Many devices produce different results so you cannot reliably say that if a file plays via USB, then it should play via DLNA.

My guess is that your TV's firmware may not be liking the mono audio channel in the MP4 file. As a test, try pre-transcoding this MP4 file to another format and see if it plays. Right-click on the MP4 file in Mezzmo and click 'Pre-transcode Files'. In the Pre-transcode Files dialog, select your TV and click 'Choose Formats'. In the Pre-transcode Formats dialog, select the bolded format and select the "Force full transcode" checkbox. Click OK and then select the 'Pre-transcode files even if they match the device's supported formats' checkbox. Click OK to start transcoding. When transcoding has completed, try streaming the video again.

Hi Paul, thanks for your answer!

I'm in the Pre-transcode Formats dialog, selected "mpegts / h264 / ac3". That was the only combination that was bolded. There is also mpeg, but only with "mpeg2video" and "ac3" with nothing bolded.

I tried both combinations and the last one (mpeg / mpeg2video / ac3) worked! Thanks very much so far! :-)

What does that mean for me in the future? Do I have to pre-transcode all my mp4-files, or is it possible to change the normal "on the fly" transcoding?

    Hi Olsa,

Glad it worked You have two ways to go from here - you can continue to pre-transcode these types of files manually whenever you download them, or we can supply you with an updated device profile that will transcode these types of files for you on-the-fly when you stream them. Email us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com if you would like the updated device profile.
