Default Mezzmo not upgrading for changes in FLAC tags

    Folks,

I've got some album tracks that have had the Artist tag changed since originally saved to the Mezzmo watch directory without Mezzmo reflecting the changed tag. The files are in FLAC format, with FLAC tags.

Attached are a screen dump of the Mezzmo property view of one of these tracks, as well as a view of the tags on the same track (shown through MP3tag -- which is a reliable tagger of FLAC file tags).

    Regards,
    tony Forward

    Hi Tony,

If you have changed the metadata in media files on your hard disk and these files are already in your Mezzmo library, then you should run Maintain Library and that will pick up the metadata changes. If you just want to maintain the folder / playlist of files that you have changed, right-click on the folder / playlist in the tree on the left in Mezzmo and click Maintain Playlist. In the Maintain dialog, select the "Update media properties" checkbox and the "Update all files" radio button. After maintenance has completed, your FLAC metadata should be listed for your files in your Mezzmo library.

    Hi Paul,

    No luck with that.

I had already tried running a Maintain Playlist for the music tab as you suggested. The status box showed all of the files being processed, but the metadata changes were not picked up. What's more, I already have a nightly job running that is supposed to update the whole library -- and this has been running every night since I made the metadata changes, but with no joy.

I have just gone back and checked the checkboxes and noticed that the "Update all files" box is not checked. However, when I check this, I get a warning that the metadata in the media files may be overwritten with external data, which is not what I want to do at all. I don't want the files changed, just their metadata changes to be read into the library.

In checking this, I've also noticed that new files added to the watch folders are not being updated in the library either. The only way that I can get them included is to delete the playlists and re-create them.

    Regards,
    Tony

    Hi Tony,

You will need to select the "Update all files" radio button to update your existing entries in your Mezzmo library.

When you check the "Update all files" radio button, Mezzmo will extract metadata from your media files (and from other associated metadata files) and add that metadata into your Mezzmo library - thus overwriting any metadata that you already had in your Mezzmo library for those files. Mezzmo does not touch or write metadata into your media files on disk. It just updates your Mezzmo library.

Default I'll give that a try

    Paul,

OK, thanks, I'll give that a try. I think I misread the warning.
