Photos With Sub Folders AND Files - Broken

There seems to be an issue where if I have a folder that has sub folders and files, the folder will show as being empty.
So for example consider the following folder structure

Photos
>>>>>>>>Kids
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Kids in playground
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>File 1.jpg
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>File 2.jpg
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>File 3.jpg


Here the ones in bold are folders. So where there is a folder called "Kids in playground" at the same level as files 1,2 and 3 the whole lot doesn't get shown. Note this is on a Samsung C series TV.
Where I have just files they display no problem.

I think this is also an issue in other areas not just photos.

Any ideas anyone? I have checked security and given "everyone" full permission to all folders and files.
