Lightbulb Tutorial: Maintaining your Mezzmo library

From time-to-time, you may need to maintain your Mezzmo library. The reasons for maintaining your Mezzmo library are:

    • You have added files to a folder on disk and want Mezzmo to find them and add them to your Mezzmo library.
    • You have changed the attributes (video codec, audio codec, subtitles, embedded metadata, external metadata files, etc.) for some media files and want Mezzmo to re-read these attributes.
    • You have deleted media files from your computer or NAS and want them to be also removed from your Mezzmo library.
    • You have changed your iTunes library and want Mezzmo to re-import it so your Mezzmo library is in-sync with iTunes.

Maintenance is all handled in the Maintain Library dialog:

Mezzmo Android: Install it on your tablet, smartphone, Android TV or Amazon Fire to browse and stream files from your Mezzmo library to all your devices. Full details at http://www.conceiva.com/products/mez...mo_android.asp

Default Maintaining a folder or playlist

Rather than maintaining your complete Mezzmo library, you can maintain just the files contained in a folder or playlist:

    1. Right-click on a folder or playlist in the tree in Mezzmo.
    2. Click Maintain Playlist to display the Maintain Playlist dialog.

    3. All maintenance will be restricted to the files in the selected folder or playlist.

Default Keeping your existing metadata when maintaining your Mezzmo library

When running Maintain Library, if you wish to keep your existing metadata for your files, then it is important that you have the Only update new files or files with empty attributes radio button selected. When selected, Mezzmo will only collect metadata for your new files and also try to collect metadata where you have blank metadata entries for your existing files.

If the Update all attributes radio button is selected, then all your existing metadata for your files will be overwritten with new metadata that Mezzmo collects during maintenance.

    Default Scheduling daily maintenance

If you wish to maintain your library each day, then set the time of day to run maintenance and click the Schedule Maintenance button. Mezzmo will run Maintain Library at this time each day. We recommend running maintenance overnight when you are not using Mezzmo or streaming to your devices.

Important: Mezzmo application must be running if you want to schedule maintenance.
