Default Getting error messages when using Mezzmo with Samsung HT-C6730

    Good day.

Purchased a Samsung HT-C6730 this week and was not satisfied with Samsung PC Share Manager, so went looking for better alternative rather than bring back HTIB to the store. Mezzmo seemed well reviewed in various forums for Samsung compatibility.

After understanding from searching the forums here that Samsung devices which support Internet@TV should use Profile "Samsung C", that is what I used.

I use the wireless connection of the Samsung unit to my DSL modem/router.

Two error messages have been encountered up to now. One annoying, the other a deal breaker.

Annoying: Inconsistently, while navigating folders to get (for example) to a specific Music album, the message "Request cannot be completed. MEDIA PLAY will be return to the main screen." is received and I am sent back to the Main menu of the device. I have to reselect Mezzmo and navigate again. Going to the same folder, usually does not give error second time around and shows content. I suspect this could be wireless issue (e.g. latency problem) but would like to know if someone has encountered this and resolved.

Deal breaker: avi files that can be played using Samsung PC Share Manager give a "Not Supported File Format." message. FFmpeg info of one such file is given below:

FFmpeg version SVN-r24378, Copyright (c) 2000-2010 the FFmpeg developers
    built on Jul 21 2010 12:51:48 with gcc 4.4.0

    libswscale 0.11. 0 / 0.11. 0
    libpostproc 51. 2. 0 / 51. 2. 0
    Input #0, avi, from 'C:\Data\Fred\Movies\CookingTest.avi':
    Metadata:
    ISFT : MEncoder Sherpya-SVN-r30075-4.2.5
    Duration: 00:43:26.04, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 1020 kb/s
    Stream #0.0: Video: mpeg4, yuv420p, 704x396 [PAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], 24 tbr, 24 tbn, 24 tbc
    Stream #0.1: Audio: mp3, 44100 Hz, 2 channels, s16, 32 kb/s
At least one output file must be specified

If anybody can help, would be much appreciated, as otherwise I like the HT-C6730 although I admit up to now my Samsung BD-P3600 which use Windows file sharing is much simpler to set up and to use, both at the PC and BD player end.

    Thanks for your time.

Default After further testing... some improvements

Well, things have improved a lot after a night's sleep, but not out of the woods yet.

I really should have tested all other Samsung profiles yesterday, but my only excuse is that 3am was past my bedtime.

Today, applying "Samsung A" profile to the device helped a lot. For now (although not conclusive) no more of the annoying "Request cannot be completed. MEDIA PLAY will be return to the main screen." message.

Also, under this profile, going into Video, avi files are playing BUT not respecting the aspect ratio: they look as if the widescreen was compressed from left-to-right to fit in a 4:3 screen. This is thus still a deal breaker, but gives me the feeling a fix must already exist. Using profile "Samsung B" gives same "Not Supported File Format." error message than using "Samsung C" profile.

One limitation I could live with but would like to confirm if can be overcome: With Samsung PC Share Manager, ID3 tag info seems to be used to categorise by Artists, Genre, etc. but with Mezzmo (at least under profile Samsung A) the only choice under Music that gets me to any file is going through the Folders option. Choosing Genre or Artists shows empty list.

So if anyone can help find/adjust a Samsung profile that will get my HT-C6730 to work avi files correctly through Mezzmo, would be much appreciated.

    Thank you kindly.

    Hello,

Can you please send a message to support (at) conceiva (dot) com, because we have a patched version of the server as well as an updated device profile to try. I can confirm that there's an issue we're trying to solve with playing MP4s (in AVI container, like yours, for example) and we'll get them going soon.
