Default Sony BDP 470 - No Playable Video Files

I have a Sony BDP 470 with the latest firmware update. I downloaded the trial version of Mezzmo today (v. 2.1.8.0).

I loaded MPEG2 video files in HD (1080i) and SD (480i) into Mezzmo. The BDP sees the server, but declares there are no playable video files. Here is the output from FFmpeg:

    SD File Info:
Seems stream 1 codec frame rate differs from container frame rate: 59.94 (60000/1001) -> 59.94 (60000/1001)

I added a standard MP3 album as a sanity check, and that also fails with "No Playable Files" on the BDP. So I tried JPEG files, and again the "No Playable Files" error.

I am using the Sony BDP profile on Mezzmo. These failures occur irrespective of the setting for transcoding (performance).

I have a BDP-570 and have been struggling with it. Generic Device 3 got it working with some files, but many others I can't see at all from the 570. Dennis kindly sent me a profile update and server patch that improved things quite a bit, but still having trouble with WMA audio, and many video formats. All these formats will play with WMP 12 streaming, but some of the video formats do not have the correct aspect ratio. I am really liking Mezzmo if I can get it working well with the BDP-570. I'm not sure if the 2.1.9 updates pst the 2.1.8.13 version or not.

The new update (2.1.9) has got a SonyHT (Sony Home Theatre) profile which should work for the BDP-570. I have a similar model (BDV-570). For my system, the avi section of this file (Windows7: c:\ProgramData\Conceiva\Mezzmo\DeviceProfiles\Sony HT.prf) must be commented out or the player won't see any avi file. On top of that, some files still wont play well. In particular, some HD h264 videos will play for a little bit and then start and stop rapidly as if it's not keeping up. Those same files play fine using Mezzmo on the Sony Bravia that the BDV-570 is connected to, so it's not the files. Both systems are on a wired network. All things being equal, I suspect that the SonyHT profile will need to be tweaked some more. If Dennis or Paul care to look at it some more, that would be nice.

There is a Sony BDP device profile specifically for Sony BDP players. Please use this and, if you find issues, let us know and we will continue to improve the device profile. Send us logs and FFmpeg file information to support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

Hello Paul. Thanks for the info. My unit is BDV-570 (not BDP-570) and is in fact a Home Theatre with a Blu-ray player. I tried the Sony BDP profile originally and, like the original poster made mention, nothing was showing up. Dennis created the SonyHT profile for me and it picked up every file except AVI files. As I said, commenting out the AVI file section of this profile then allowed all the AVI's to play, but, the problem still exists with regard to high definition h264 files. They're transcoded into mpeg_ntsc-mpeg2video-ac3 and as I said, play fine for a little over a minute and then stop and start repeatedly. It's of interest to note that the home theatre will play these files natively using a USB input so I wonder if transcoding is all that necessary for these files. If you'd still interested in the log files, let me know and I'll send them to you right away. Thanks once again.
