Thread: Flat Album list ordered by Album-Artist

Default Flat Album list ordered by Album-Artist

I want to have one "Albums" folder that contains all albums ordered by Album-Artist, i.e. the same ordering that iTunes has on the desktop.
The current AlbumArtist ordering for a playlist always creates Artist-folders containing their Albums.
How can I get one flat list of all Albums ordered by AlbumArtist?

Click 'Create Playlist' -> 'Smart Playlist'. On the Smart Playlist Properties dialog, give your playlist a name (e.g. 'Albums List'). Under 'Match all of the following rules': select [File type] [music]. Next, select the 'Music files' radio button. Then, select "Album artist (Ascending)" for the sort by settings. Click OK and now you have a flat playlist containing all music files ordered by album artist.

Thank you for your answer Paul, but this is not 100% what I wanted.

The order is correct, but I want to see all albums with their cover and not all songs in a list.
Just look at iTunes and you see what I mean.

Understand. Try this: Click 'Create Playlist' -> 'Active Playlist'. On the Active Playlist dialog, give your playlist a name. Next, click 'Add >' and select 'Album / Series'. Then, select the 'Music files' radio button and Sort by 'Album Artist (Ascending)'. Click OK and that will create a list of albums for you. Under each album are the music tracks.

Yes that's nearly what I wantet, but the Albums are not sorted by 'Album Artist' but 'Album Name'. Is this a bug?

This is not a bug, but by design. Each level in the active playlist tree will be sorted by the keyword at that level (in your case, Album). The files are listed by the Sort by setting. I made a mistake in the Sort by setting. You should change this to 'Track / Episode' so your music tracks are listed in the track order when you browse/play them. You can right-click on the playlist and click Properties to edit the playlist.

OK, sorting the final result by AlbumArtist would be great, but I can live with the current sort order.
Perhaps you could add some kind of 'post'-order step to mezzmo in the future...
    Thank you for your help.
