Thread: Maintain library via service

    Default Maintain library via service

I am using Mezzmo on a Windows 2008 server box and have the media server running as a service. My issue that I'm running into is that when using smart playlists the only time they'll update is when the maintain library process is run.. I don't want to have to login and have the Mezzmo app running all the time.

Is it possible to have 'maintain library' run as a service? Does a feature request need to be added. Any other workarounds (task scheduler???)

    TIA

Smart playlists are listed dynamically - i.e. the files listed in the smart playlist are retrieved from your Mezzmo library based on the rules you specify in your smart playlist. This happens in both the Mezzmo application and Mezzmo server. So, you should see up-to-date lists of files in your smart playlists based on any changes to your Mezzmo library when you browse into them on your devices via your Mezzmo server. You do not need to run Maintain Library to update smart playlists.

My guess is that you are not seeing some new files that have been added to folders on disk in your smart playlists. Files that have been added into folders on disk will only be added into your Mezzmo library when you browse into that folder on your device (or in the Mezzmo application) or when you run Maintain Library. If this is your problem, then you can run maintenance as a scheduled task using the Mezzmo command line. See this FAQ - http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...Line-Interface

Your guess is correct! I'll give the command line method a shot.

    Much appreciated
