Thread: New videos are not added to library

Question New videos are not added to library

I just noticed that several folders of TV shows are not being updated with new episodes when I add them. There aren't any stuck tasks or anything like that so I'm not sure what the issue is. For example, I have as part of the Video library:

    \Television
    \American Horror Story
    \Season 01
    \Season 02
    \Season 03

When I recently re-installed Mezzmo, Season 01 was complete, Season 02 was complete, Season 03 was at Episode 3. All of those show up on a DLNA player, and the thumbnails show on Mezzmo. But, since the re-install I have added Episodes 4-6 (just by copying them into the folder that is the "Television" folder from another machine) and those episodes do not show up at all on the DLNA player, and the thumbnails on Mezzmo are not the artwork, but just the standard icon.

So what am I doing wrong? Do I need to redo the entire library (which is about 8TB with 8,534 video files) each time I want other DLNA players to be able to see the new files added (which happens daily)?

That does sound strange. Try running Maintain Library with the "Only update new files or files with empty attributes" radio button selected and the "Update media properties", "Update subtitles" and "Update artwork" checkboxes selected.

Running it now. I'll let you know what happens.

I guess my count was wrong. After 44%, Mezzmo has processed 12,100 files and updated 80 of them. So why were those files not being updated during the scheduled maintenance? Do I need to manually add subfolders (that would be a MAJOR pain)? I'm not sure yet whether this has temporarily fixed the problem, but at least I see that some files have been updated.

One user recently did find an issue that scheduled maintenance was not running under certain conditions. This may explain your situation as well. We have fixed this problem and will include the fix in the next release. You can request a patch if you like by emailing us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.
