    Default Inaccurate Metadata (300/2006/Gerard Butler)

    Thanks for a terrific program!

PROBLEM: Mezzmo is not correctly identifying the metadata for the 2006 Movie '300' (Gerard Butler)
It is incorrectly identifying it as 'Movies: 300 E300 S300: 300'

    MY CONFIGURATION:
    My folder\filename is '\300\300 (2006).mkv'

    My Media Retrieval Settings are:
    (all off except)
Get text metadata from file path
Get text metadata embedded in file
    Get artwork embedded in file
Get text metadata and artwork from internet web sites

I'm quessing that the problem is that the movie name is a number and so Mezzmo thinks it is a series.

Is there a fix for this? Perhaps a different filename?

    Thanks in advance!

    Michael

You can manually fix this quite easily:

    1. Right-click on the video in Mezzmo and click 'Properties'.
    2. On the Properties dialog, click 'Get Online Video Metadata' button.
    3. On the Get Online Video Metadata dialog, type in '300' and select the 'Movie' radio button.
    4. Click 'Search' and all movies with 300 will be displayed. Click the arrow buttons to find the appropriate movie and then click OK.
    5. The metadata will be placed in the Properties dialog. Change the Season number and Episode number to be 0. Change the Series to be empty/blank.
    6. Click OK to save your changes.

    Paul,

Thank you very much for the quick reply and excellent advice. This is certainly a viable option for a quick-fix. However, I was seeking a more permanent solution. When I add new titles I try to make them work through a rebuild or reinstall of the platform. I have learned this behavior following many bad experiences with similar programs. Therefore, I would consider a 'permanent' fix one in which I could run the maintenance function while updating 'all entries'. If I am not mistaken a permanent fix must then be with a change to either the file name or embedded metadata. I have tried both and find no joy.

Any advice for a permanent fix? Perhaps it would be helpful if you could indicate why Mezzmo determines that a numeric file name (movie title) without a preceding E, or S must be a series? Is there a plan to address this behavior? Perhaps a table of file names which could provide for proper translations of 'conflicting' names?

Thanks again for a terrific program!

    Hi Michael,

We've reproduced the problem here and fixed it. The fix will appear the next upcoming release.

    Terrific! Works GREAT! Thanks Paul!

However, It does not appear as though we have addressed the underlying issue, only this specific title. You see, another movie with a numeric name, '42' still appears to suffer from this same issue. The filename is '42 (2013).mkv' but Mezzmo is listing it as 'Movies: S042 E042: 42'.

I look forward to a more permanent, programmatic fix for these titles with numbers in their names.

Thanks again for a terrific product!

Glad that works better. We recognize that the file path parsing in the current version of Mezzmo (v3.4.4.0) is not 100% correct yet. We are planning to improve this for the next major version.
