Thread: 2013 LG Samrt TV & MKV?!?!

  1. #1

Question 2013 LG Samrt TV & MKV?!?!

So i just got a new LG smart TV and i wanted to know what are the best settings to stream MKV files? Some of my video files work just fine and stream and then i have other ones that wont play at all...I did contact support and they told me to do this...

Mezzmo is transcoding the first file because it has DTS audio and the LG does not support DTS audio, the LG does a request for part of the file beyond the transcoded data and Mezzmo because this cannot be completed the device aborts playing. To work around this you can pre-transcode your files http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nscoding-Files or we can suggest changes to the device profile that you can try that may allow the TV to play the files that are transcoded on the fly.

One change to the device profile you can try is to change understandsinvalidrange="0" to understandsinvalidrange="1" to see if this helps. Go to the device profiles folder (see this thread for its location: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...ofiles-located) and edit LGTV2013.prf in a text editor to make the change then restart your Mezzmo media server.

Now i have changed the "understandsinvalidrange="0" to understandsinvalidrange="1"" Like he said it it seem to have fix some videos but not all...I have the LG 2013 profile selected as well...any ideas?

Thanks for the FFmpeg information. Mezzmo will be transcoding this MKV since your TV model does not support DTS audio. The transcoded file may not be played on your TV due to an attribute in the transcoded file not being accepted by your TV's firmware. Please right-click on the video in Mezzmo and click Properties. On the Properties dialog, go to the Transcoding tab and select the transcoded file listed there. Then click the 'Get FFmpeg Information' button and post the information here. That will help us track down what is wrong.

The problem will most likely be the high video bitrate (12MB/sec) in the transcoded file. Try this: Go to the Media Devices dialog and edit your device, On the Device Settings dialog to the Performance tab and move the Video bitrate slider halfway. Click OK to save your changes. Now pre-transcode the video again. This time, Mezzmo will create a transcoded video with a lower video bitrate and this may play fine.

LG perfectly supports DTS at least since 2012 models, long overdue to update the appropriate device profiles!!!
I did it long ago for my LM640T and have no problems

This is pulled from the LG Website only models up to 2012 are listed:

Below are the typical supported formats on LG TVs. All LG TVs that support DLNA are DivX PlusT HD certified.

    Codec File extensions (Container)
MPEG2 DAT, MPG, MPEG, TS, TRP, VOB, MKV, DivX, AVI
    MPEG4 MP4, MKV, DivX, AVI
H.264 TS, TRP, MP4, MKV, DivX, AVI
    NOTES:

The most common video format to use with DLNA is H.264 at 30 or 24 frames/sec.
LG TVs do support 1080p at 30 frames/sec, but some other devices do not.
Remember, even when using a supported codec, the file container and file extension must also be supported by the player.
