    Default Series / TV Shows

I've been searching for a Mezzmopedia, Mezzpedia, or whatever you call it but didn't find any.

Also I've searched the FAQ for my question, but didn't find an answer.

I googled all sorts of combinations of "Mezzmo, tv shows, series, library, setup, howto, how to, initial, configuration, installation, etc."

But nothing came up.. So if what I'm asking is answered already, don't rant on me for not finding it, I've spend enough time to search but couldn't find.

    So here's the thing:

I've added all the movies (some are added to the series dynamic library?) they don't belong there, but 20 movies out of 900 being organized wrong is a good quota.
Then I've added 4 TB of series.. They are all organized folder wise like this:
    • Series
      • TV Show1
        • Season1
          • Episode1
          • Episode2
          • Episode3
          • etc
        • Season2
          • Episode1
          • Episode2
          • Episode3
          • etc
        • Season3
          • Episode1
          • Episode2
          • Episode3
          • etc
        • etc
          • Episode1
          • Episode2
          • Episode3
          • etc
      • TV Show2
        • Season1
          • Episode1
          • Episode2
          • Episode3
          • etc
        • Season2
          • Episode1
          • Episode2
          • Episode3
          • etc
        • Season3
        • etc
      • TV Show3
        • Season1
        • Season2
        • Season3
        • etc
      • etc

Now, of course I can browse using the "series" folder on the DLNA server..
But there is also a "series" dynamic library and it should organize this based on the above directory structure, but it doesn't!
Also I've been using XBMB nfo and tbn for getting the metadata.. obviously it doesn't organize everything properly when using this metadata..

I've disabled the extraction of any other metadata then XBMC files..

so, how to configure the "series" dynamic library? Or is it better to simply delete this one and use the folder entry?

Mezzmo adds your files to the "Series" active playlist if the file entry in Mezzmo has non-blank Series, Season and Episode values. Right-click on the file in Mezzmo and click Properties to see these fields.

These fields are automatically filled in when you add your files into Mezzmo or when you maintain your Mezzmo library. Mezzmo can find the Series, Season and Episode information from multiple sources - i.e. from the file path, from embedded metadata within the video, or from external metadata files (.xml, .tgmd, .nfo) sitting alongside the video files. You can turn on/off where this metadata is gathered from using the Metadata Retrieval Settings dialog. In addition, Mezzmo access TV show web sites to download episode information and artwork.

Using your file's path, the following naming styles are supported:

    • C:\folder\Movie Title.avi
    • C:\folder\Movie Title YYYY.avi
    • C:\folder\Title s01e01 Subtitle.avi
    • C:\folder\Title 1x01 Subtitle.avi
    • C:\folder\Title Season 1\Title 1x01 Subtitle.avi
    • C:\folder\Title Season 1 Episode 1 Subtitle.avi
    • C:\folder\Title\Season 1\01 Subtitle.avi
    • C:\folder\Title\Season 1\s01e01 Subtitle.avi
    • C:\folder\Title\Season 1\1x01 Subtitle.avi
    • C:\folder\Title\Season 1\Title s01e01 Subtitle.avi
    • C:\folder\Title\Season 1\Title 1x01 Subtitle.avi
    • C:\folder\Title\Season 1\Episode 1 Subtitle.avi
    • C:\folder\Title\Season 1\Season 1 Episode 1 Subtitle.avi
    • C:\folder\Title Season 1\01 Subtitle.avi
    • C:\folder\Title Season 1\s01e01 Subtitle.avi
    • C:\folder\Title Season 1\1x01 Subtitle.avi
    • C:\folder\Title Season 1\Title s01e01 Subtitle.avi
    • C:\folder\Title Season 1\Title 1x01 Subtitle.avi
    • C:\folder\Title Season 1\Episode 1 Subtitle.avi
    • C:\folder\Title Season 1\Season 1 Episode 1 Subtitle.avi

Note: you must have "Get text metadata from file path" checkbox selected on the Video tab on the Metadata Retrieval Settings dialog to tell Mezzmo to collect metadata from file paths. Click Help in the Metadata Retrieval Settings dialog for detailed information about getting metadata for your files.

Ok, that's understandable. Will try this.
    I have a sidenote however..
I have my Movies organized a similar way..
    \\Movies\0\name.mkv
    ....
    \\Movies\A\name.mkv
    ....
    etc..

all the movies are scanned correctly as Movies, not as series.. however, those under the 0 (0 = null, numerical, not alphabetical)
    are all seen as series..
    example:
    \\NSA325\Movies0\0\2.22 (2008)\2.22 (2008).mkv

    becomes by mezzmo:
    Movies0: S000 E002: 2:22

any idea how I can avoid this?

This mistake the software only makes with the 0, NULL.. with all the other sub-directories A, B, C, etc it doesn't mistakenly think this is a series..

Well now it adds all movies to the series..

if I add a folder to the Library
\\172.22.56.2\Movies0\ (inside here are the movies, 0-9;A;B;C;Etc and inside these sub-directories organized alphabetical, each in it's own directory)
\\172.22.56.2\Movies1 (inside here are other movies M;N;O;etc, as above)

    And then
\\172.22.56.2\Series0 (inside here the series are organized per each series, season and then the episodes..)

how do I get this to work and Mezzmo recognizing everything perfect.
All data of the movies and series is done by XBMC.. so I'd like to keep using the xbmc nfo and tbn because I can keep things nicely organized then by the multitude of open source software written for XBMC to maintain artist, arts, posters, banners, etc..

I can't figure out how to do this properly..

also... by default the program starts to unpack all subtitles.. out of over 3000 movie files... ehm.. why is this automated? I disabled it, but let me guess, 2 years non stop computing for it's completion? SHouldn't be automated!
No biggy though, I simply disabled it..

Adding all those files takes 10 minutes...
then it says: processing active playlists .. this takes hours..

but removing all files, even after 1 day it's not done.. the removing somehow is bugged in performance because adding is faster then removing.. this cant be right...
It's faster to simply delete the .db files and do everything from scratch..

but since I have done that many times now, each time different setup.. and the program simply can't distinguish between series and movies..
so please write some mezzmopedia, tutorial or whatever how people should do that..

So, I now tested things with the above directory structure I'm using (which is advised for almost all media servers..)
Either no series / Tv shows are recognized at all...
or everything including movie becomes a tv series..

Note: you must have "Get text metadata from file path" checkbox selected on the Video tab on the Metadata Retrieval Settings dialog to tell Mezzmo to collect metadata from file paths.

Enabling this makes out of movies under a numerical directory tv shows as well.... which is not correct, since many movies start with a numerical number as their name..

Also, I think you allow users too many different folder structures for being TV Show.. why?

s01e01 is the general accepted way to name TV episodes by all major media servers..
if such file doesn't exist in a directory, it shouldn't be recognized as tv show/series..
    also..
I did select the XBMC nfo/tbn option..

inside the xbmc nfo there's a tag <tvshow> which indicates it's a TV Show..
    why doesnt mezzmo recognize this?

if inside the nfo is no <tvshow> tag.. it's obviously a movie..
if it is, it's obviously a series..

so I really wonder why I would need the "
Note: you must have "Get text metadata from file path" checkbox selected on the Video tab on the Metadata Retrieval Settings dialog to tell Mezzmo to collect metadata from file paths
    "
it's already in the nfo file anyway..

but even if you still need this option you noted.. .. at least to avoid movies being wrongly organized into the TV Shows check the nfo of XBMC format for the <tvshow> tag and if it's not there.. then it's not a tv show..obviously

Many thanks for the feedback. We've made some improvements to this area in the upcoming Mezzmo v4.0. If you could please send us a few NFO files that are not working and also a sample of your folder structure that is not being picked up correctly, then we'll make sure we test them here to make sure they are working before the Mezzmo v4.0 release (due later this month). Please email all information to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.
