Default permanently convert files to correct format for a device

I have a sony bravia KDL 55HX850 and stream 99.99% to this one device
I have a modest amount of movies and file but would like to convert my collection to something that can be played without transcoding to the device..
I understand that there would be no going back and that if I need to stream to another device I would have to change it .
I think this would be a great way to premark a folder and all files in that folder to be converted while the computer is on at night or idle.
My computer is up 24/7 and idle 50% of the time...

    so to review...

option to select entire folder to re-encode to fit a device.
option to do it while idle..
option to create copy or overwrite the existing files.
maybe a warning that if the files are not playable to backup the movies before hand..

this would be awesome to have... considering we could use that precious idle time to relieve the transcoding pressure..

    Thanks for the suggestions.

You can pre-transcode a file, a selection of files, a folder/playlist of files or your whole Mezzmo library for a device right now using the Pre-transcode Files dialog. See http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nscoding-Files. These transcoded (converted) files are stored on disk in your Transcoding folder (see Transcoding Settings dialog to its location and size). This partly covers some of your wishlist (i.e. to prepare those files that require transcoding before streaming them to a particular device). We'll certainly consider the other items in your wishlist as well.

An option to replace the original file in the library with the transcoded version might be useful.

Agree that may be useful, but I think the file needs to tested before automatically replacing the original file. Transcoding can *sometimes* produce videos with problems (FFmpeg is not perfect and can have bugs/issues depending on the version you have).

You can manually save your transcoded file to disk using the 'Save As' button on the Transcoding tab of the Properties dialog. This lets you overwrite your original file.
