Default Composer listed as Artist / XBox plays wrong file / Deleted pictures still in library

    Hi all,

I'm having a couple minor problems with streaming audio and video, or looking at pictures:
    1. For some reason my Yamaha RX-V773, when streaming through the Server input, is displaying the Composers in the Artist field. For example, on I Want Candy by Bow Wow Wow (yeah yeah, I've had it since the 90's), I see Bert Bern/etc/etc as the Artist rather than Bow Wow Wow. Here is the ffmpeg data:

    2. For some reason, a subset of my video files have their metadata from the next file in the folder. For example, I have a folder with 9 video files. The first file is named "01 - Pipe Dream.mkv", which you'll see below in the FFmpeg details. In Mezzmo, however, it shows up as "Animusic: S002 E001 Starship Groove", which is actually the 2nd file in the folder ("02 - Starship Groove.mkv").

    3. I loaded some pictures onto my server in my Pictures folder. I then went through them to delete some of them since shockingly they were not all perfect. The files are, of course, not physically located on the drives any more, but still appear in my Mezzmo library.

I've tried maintaining the library with update all turned on but it does not seem to have resolved the issues.

    Any help / thoughts appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Doug

    Hi Doug,

    Some answers:

    1. Mezzmo delivers all the metadata to your devices and your devices' firmware decides what to display. Your Yamaha receiver may be displaying the wrong metadata for artist. Or, Mezzmo v3.4.4.0 may be not collecting the metadata correctly in this case. We have made some improvements for metadata collection for the upcoming Mezzmo v4.0 so this issue may be fixed with the new version.
    2. This issue may also be fixed with the upcoming Mezzmo v4.0.
    3. To remove files from your Mezzmo library that no longer exist on disk, then choose the "Remove media files from your Mezzmo library that cannot be found on your computer" in the Maintain Library dialog.

    Hi Paul,

Thank you for the quick response.

I probably should have been more specific - both #1 and #2 are recent occurrences. As of 2 weeks ago they were both fine. Now, both are a problem. Given that, I assume there must be some resolution other than waiting for the next release?

As for the third one, I already have that option checked. Although the library had already undergone a couple days of maintenance without resolution, the offending files are now gone, so I assume it was just a timing issue.

    Thanks!

    Hi Doug,

Regarding the wrong metadata beging displaye don your devices, right-click on a file that is displaying the wrong metadata and check that it is valid in the Properties dialog. If OK, then you can email us a set of logs and we can see what Mezzmo server is sending to your device(s). Turn on logging (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Connect to Mezzmo from your device(s) and reproduce the wrong metadata being displayed. Then stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

Thanks Paul - just sent the logs. I was trying to play Devil Inside by INXS. Everything is correct except the Artist which lists "Andrew Farriss; Michael Hutchence" who are actually the composers.

    Thanks Paul!

I'd just like to say thank you to you guys for fixing this for me. Although the issue is clearly one with the Yamaha receiver itself you took the time to customize the profile and now I get the song title instead of a random list of contributors. Thanks Paul and team!!!

Many thanks for the feedback. Various DLNA-enabled devices do handle & display metadata differently, so it is messy for media servers like Mezzmo. I'm glad we got it working correctly for your Yamaha receiver.
