Default "Waiting for Mezzmo"... new strange problem

After everything working just fine for a few weeks, I have had the following problem.
On my Nexus 4 phone, Skifta says "Waiting for Mezzmo" in the choose media source dialog.
Mezzmo never shows up. Then, if I merely log on to my Netgear WNR1000 router, all of a sudden Mezzmo appears as an option and everything works.
This may or may not require a reboot of Skifta on the phone.
Trouble is that the problem reoccurs in maybe a few minutes or an hour after just normal use or even no use of the computer.
Something similar is happening on my Kindle Fire with Skifta and Bubbleup.
The first time I had this problem I logged on to the router and found that the uPnP
was turned on so I turned it off. Problem solved. Then after the problem returned, I started to notice that I had only to log on to the router and it was fixed, though temporarily.
I see this as a computer/Mezzmo problem and not a Nexus 4/Kindle problem but of course I could be wrong.
    What could this be?
    TIA

    Hi Keith,

It sounds like a router problem - where it is blocking UPnP / DLNA communication under some circumstances. Mezzmo server and your DLNA devices/apps are trying to talk to each other, but they are unable to since your router is blocking some/all of the UPnP / DLNA conversation.

    A few things to try:

    • Try rebooting your router and see if the problem reappears.
    • Check if you are running the latest firmware for your router & update it.
    • Factory reset your router and see if that helps.
