Thread: Mezzmo not displaying .SRT subtitles

Default Mezzmo not displaying .SRT subtitles

    Hi all,

I have a Samsung series 7 (UE46B7000) connected to my PC and I'm using Mezzmo as a DLNA server. No problems with connection whatsoever and the transcoding functionality works very well although it is a little slow. The Tv plays MKV files perfectly if read from a pen and displays the SRT subtitles without any problem. This whole problem happened because I have an MKV file which the TV doesn't play (don't know why because it's an episode of series and therefore is encoded in the same video/audio codec as the other episodes...). Anyway, I usually use Samsung share manager to play files which don't require transcoding (therefore I don't need to use CPU power/disk space/time for deconding) and Mezzmo for the ones that require transcoding so I fired up Mezzmo for such a file. I have the video and the SRT file with the same name in the same folder but, although the video plays OK, the subtitles don't appear.....

Can someone help me with this? Here's a clue that I don't know if it's expected or not: in the library in Mezzmo, the SRT files don't appear, only the video files. Does this mean something?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

I've replied here as well: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...=2967#post2967 - but to sum it up, please send the log to support and we'll take a look, because subtitles should appear.

Also, there're some fixes for Samsung that will be part of the next minor Mezzmo update (due out this week), so maybe that file will play as well.

Actually hold that thought - I just found and fixed at least one .srt issue, which will be part of the 2.1.10 as well. Please wait till 2.1.10 is released and try again and if it doesn't work then, we'll proceed from there.

One possible reason that you are not seeing subtitles is that you may have added the subtitle file (.SRT) into the folder on your computer after you already added the video file into your Mezzmo library. If this happens, Mezzmo may not pick up the .SRT file. To fix this, just run Maintain Library in Mezzmo and Mezzmo will pick up the .SRT file and stream it to your DLNA-enabled device.

Another possible reason is that your DLNA device may not like that particular .SRT file. It may be corrupt or badly formed, so your DLNA device rejects it. As a test, try another .SRT file and see if that works.

    Paul,
Thanx for your reply. There was an update available aswell for Mezzmo, so I installed this first and then I did what you suggested with Maintain Library.
Either way now it works with the same SRT files I was trying first. So thanx alot for your help
    Kind Regards

    Hello everybody,

I am using a Philips TV series 6000 and for some reason mezzmo finds it as philips 7000 and can`t choose lower version.
Anyways, I cant get to transcode the movie with subtitles (.srt) on the fly. Even if I pre-transcode them, I can`t see any subtitles.
Any sollution? I have them with the same name, and also in the same folder. (Cant find anything in help section of mezzmo or in any settings)

    Looking forward for your reply.

    Kind regards,
    Kladnik
