Default Extracting subtitles from blu-ray iso

    Hello,

To stream subtitles to my Panasonic TX-P50VT50 with mezzmo 4.0.3.0 seems almost impossible when the source is a dvd or a blu-ray iso.
I try to pretranscode the iso in the preferred format of my tv (mpegts):in "Property/Subtitles" most of the time no subtitles are listed; if the subtitles list appears sometimes, the "Extract Subtitles" button is always greyed out; and when all things seems to works, no results even if i try to force embedded subtitles in the pretranscoded file: the subtitles stream is present in the ffmpeg input list but not in the metadata or stream mapping output.
If I choose to pretranscode the iso file in mkv with embedded subtitles (mkv with embedded subtitles is a format perfectly handled by tv) the results is the same: no subtitles at all.

    Any help?

    Thank you
    Francesco

    Hi Francesco,
At this stage Mezzmo is not able to process Bluray subtitles in binary format PGS, that means Mezzmo can copy these tracks to the movie if transcoding and supported by target video container, can stream "as is" if already embedded in the video file, but cannot extract or burn.
Full support for Bluray subtitles will be released very soon.

Newest Panasonic TVs may support Matroska video with embedded subtitles like SRT (text based) but not necessarily DVD or PGS image based subtitles tracks,
you may try such video (using stream original file options) and see if they play on your TV. If yes then we should release a new profile for Panasonic, you can also modify your profile using Mezzmo->Device Profiles -> Subtitles settings by adding PGS or DVD to the list of supported video containers. See:
    http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...titling-Basics (2 x pages tutorial)

DVD is fully supported, Mezzmo can extract and burn DVD subtitles in VobSub format (.sub .idx).

Thanks for your help, I will wait fo bluray subtitles support in Mezzmo (anyway now I can't figure how force Mezzmo to copy pgs subtitles to the movie or stream them "as is": if i check ffmpeg output for bluray iso, subtitle stream is always missing).
But i have a lot of problem also with dvd iso. Even if the subtitles are listed in file properties as embedded, and this happens rarely, the preferred subtitle stream never is displayed on the tv; things goes sometimes better with a dvd folder VIDEO-TS, but often not the complete subtitles streams are shown: for example I have some VIDEO-TS folder with english, japanese, french, and spanish subs and only the Japanese one appears in subs list. I've tried to change format of trasconding, to force embedded subs, to stream without transcoding, but no subtitles are displayed on tv.
The only way is extract the preferred stream (if listed; if not, I must rip the iso and extract the choosed stream by myself), then burn it inside the transcoded file; or use others softwares like MakeMKV to rip iso in a mkv with embedded subtitles to transcode to my tv.
In other words, I can't watch a dvd iso of a foreign movie in a foreign language if not through one of this two annoying process.

    Hi Francesco,
If subtitles are missing in ISO/Bluray rip then you may need to go back to the ripping software and check your settings, maybe was ignored,
also in some rare cases subtitles may be presented very late on timeline and FFMpeg cannot detected them for Mezzmo reports.

Extracting subtitles from DVD ISO is not supported by MKVToolNix tools, you may need to use 7-zip to get all files from the archive, then add the DVD file structure to Mezzmo for processing.

An easy way to go around all these troubles would be to find matching DVD/Bluray external SRT file on web, then add it to the movie title in Mezzmo.

Please contact our support [at] conceiva [dot] com, with as much information you may tell to help us with better understanding of the problems. Some issues you have should not happen, for example Mezzmo should remux PGS internal tracks from M2TS to Matroska (also with ISO), DVD should work well, please attach with your email letter to support some of the VOBSub files for our test.
