    Default Side-by-side Mezzmo 3 and 4?

I知 currently running Mezzmo 3.4.4.0 on a Windows XP machine used only as a file and media server.

If I create a new user with Administrator privileges, can I install Mezzmo 4.0.3.0 under that account without disturbing my existing 3.4.4.0 installation (or anyone using it to stream music and video) while I知 testing the new version and getting everything properly listed in its database?

No - it will disturb your existing Mezzmo v3.4.4.0 environment. I would recommend you install Mezzmo v4.0.3.0 and follow the upgrade process. During the upgrade, you will be prompted to backup your Mezzmo database files so make sure you do this step. After the upgrading step has completed, you will be ready to stream as usual. Be aware the upgrading step can take 10+ minutes or longer if you have a large Mezzmo database. So be patient and wait until it has completed. Don't be tempted to kill the Mezzmo app midway. If you strike any problems, you can revert back to Mezzmo v3.4.4.0 using your backed up database files (...you will need to uninstall Mezzmo v4.0.3.0 first). Previous versions of Mezzmo are found here - http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...ions-of-Mezzmo. If you have any problems, let us know and we'll help out.

    Then consider that a request.

I see from the forum that I知 not alone in maintaining a media server, but not being the only one in the house who uses it. Prudence dictates that one does not deploy a major upgrade to something others also use without testing first. Being unable to install a new version without wrecking the existing one means I cannot test, unless I either use another machine (not really a valid test, since I don稚 have an identical environment available on another machine) or set up a virtual machine (something I haven稚 yet learned how to do).

For now, I will continue to wait until the dust settles... but, of course, if everyone waits, the dust can never settle.
