Thumbs up Mezzmo App + Chromecast [SOLVED]

    Hello!

I've recently downloaded the Mezzmo App Trial and I've been trying to use it to stream to Chromecast without any luck. I have the latest version as of today (I can't find the version anywhere or I'd post it). I'm running Mezzmo 4.0.6 without trouble on my PC and I can pull video from it without any problem to my Samsung Blu-ray player.

My first problem was that it didn't show the chromecast in the device list. I followed the instructions in another thread -- namely to refresh, and if it still doesn't show up, restart the app. That seems to have worked; I can see my chromecast in my device list at any rate. So I checked the box next to the chromecast to indicate I want to stream to it. If that should do something on the TV I don't see anything; I'm still seeing the chromecast pictures and status screen there.

When I browse to a video to play, nothing happens when I tap on it. I switched to the grid mode and tapped through to the video page (where it shows the name, starts, year, duraction, etc.). At the top of the page are a play button, what I assume is a queue-up-next button, and the chromecast icon. Tapping the chromecast icon makes it turn green, but nothing happens on the chromecast. Hitting play makes the chromecast icon go back to white, but nothing else seems to happen. If I tap the Play button without tapping the chromecast icon first, nothing happens. I'm a bit flummoxed about what I should be doing next.

I very much like the idea of the app and I'd love to replace the blu-ray player with my tablet (Nexus 7 2013) & chromecast, but so far I've having zero luck with the combination. Any help greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

There seems to be a communication problem between your Chromecast dongle and your tablet. As a starting point, I'd suggest working through Google's troubleshooting guide and that may help determine the communication problem - https://support.google.com/chromecas...hooter/2995236

If no success, then let us know and we'll help further.

I have this problem on my kindle fire. Mezzmo detects my kindle and my Vieira tv but not my chromecast. Chromecast works fine on my Toshiba tablet.

Streaming to Chromecast dongle from a Kindle requires that you have Google Play store installed on your Kindle (Note: This not a requirement for Mezzmo, but a general requirement for streaming / casting to Google Chromecast dongles from Android devices).

To install Google Play store onto your Kindle you need to download and install several (free) Google apps onto your Kindle. Once done, you will be able to stream / cast using the Mezzmo app to your Chromecast. The apps you need to download and install are listed in this helpful blog post - http://www.bestandroidblog.com/how-t...indle-fire-hd/

I am having a similar problem, Latest version of Mezzmo working fine with Samsung smart tv and blu ray player through a Samsung tablet.

Tablet identifies chromecast, however like the user above when i press play nothing happens. Again tapping chromecast icon turns green, however nothing happens, and when you hit play chromecast turns off.

I dont think it is a communication issue as other apps like youtube etc have worked fine from the same tablet.

The Mezzmo app displays this error code 2131427388 Code 1 if that means anything

    Any further ideas?

    Thanks

Make sure you have an active internet connection for your Samsung tablet since Google Chromecast requires this. Also check that the "Google Play services" app on your tablet is enabled and up-to-date. If disabled or an older version, then you will get the error that you are seeing. Go to Settings -> Apps on your tablet to view 'Google Play services' app. Select it to check if it enabled or there are update available.

Sorry for the delay in replying, I didn't see the replies because my email provider thought the notification email was spam

I'm still not able to get the Mezzmo app to cast to the chromecast. The chromecast shows up in my device list and is checked. I browse to the media I want to play and I tap it. I hit the cast button so it turns green (is it supposed to stay green?). Then I hit the play button. I'm getting the media's description page up on the chromecast, but it won't play -- I just get "chromecast failure 2131230789 code 1". I'm not sure what to do next. Unfortunately, I only have two days left in the trial so I'd like to get this working if at all possible -- I'd be happy to pay for the app and use this instead of my blu-ray player to watch my media!

Thanks for the further information. Since you can see your media file's description displayed on your Chromecast, that means that communication is working between the Mezzmo Android app on your Android device and the Chromecast dongle connected to your TV.

Playing files may not be working due to transcoding issues. We can check this for you if you email us a set of logs. Turn on logging in Mezzmo (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Try to play a few files to your Chromecast using Mezzmo Android app. When they fail to play, stop your Mezzmo server on your PC and exit Mezzmo Windows app. Then zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

Thanks Paul! I've sent the email with the subject line "Cannot play media to chomecast" and I included a link to this thread in the email body (as well as attached a ZIP of the logs). Hopefully that helps figure out the issue!

Thanks - got your logs. We can see that your Chromecast dongle is not listed in the Media Devices dialog. It needs to be listed there and using the 'Google Chromecast' device profile. Make sure the “Allow new devices to connect to Mezzmo” checkbox is selected in the Media Devices dialog and then restart your Mezzmo server. After that, your Chromecast should be listed (assuming it is turned on). Once listed in the Media Devices dialog, you should be fine for streaming your files to your Chromecast dongle.
