    Default 4.0.6.0 Sluggish

    Hello,

Been holding out on the 4.0.6.0 update. Finally upgraded from 3.4.4.0 yesterday and noticed two things so far.

    1. I use a NAS array to host/stream movie files. To prolong HDD life (and save power), I have the drives set to go to sleep when not used. If asleep, 3.4.4.0 dwells for 20-30 seconds while the HDDs spin up, then the movie plays. If not asleep, a movie plays immediately. With 4.6.6.0, I get an request error when starting a movie -- then get returned to the main menu. This behavior only occurs while the NAS is asleep; if I wait another 30 seconds, it works fine without error. Note: if I request a movie multiple times within the "spin-up" period, the request error persists.

Bottom Line: the wait state needs to be extended in 4.6.6.0 to accommodate NAS power saving mode.

    2. Playlist folders in 4.0.6.0 are slow to read. Seems read time is based on folder size.

      • Larger folders read more slowly (some of mine take 12 -15 seconds)
      • Smaller folders -- those with fewer movies -- read more quickly

It appears folder contents are not cached, so I have to wait every time I enter larger folders. Didn't have this issue in 3.4.4.0; all folders, regardless of size, read near real-time.

    Thanks,

    VGuitarist

    Hi VGuitarist,

Thanks for the feedback. We'll get both these issues fixed on your setup. It's best we see a set of logs so we can see what's going wrong. Please turn on logging (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Reproduce both problems you mention and then stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

    Hi Paul,

Better late than never, right? Now that NFL season is over, I won't travel for a while. Since September, I have upgraded Mezzmo to v4.1.3.0 and it, too, has the same problem. I captured log files and will send them to the support email address.

    Thanks!

    Jeff

Thanks Paul. When looking at the logs, please focus on the NAS delay problem. The sluggishness I originally reported, seems to be fixed.

Glad the folders are faster to list and display now. We'll look at the NAS spin up issue & report back via email.
