Thread: Files in Transcoded folder not auto deleting files

Default Files in Transcoded folder not auto deleting files

    Maximum folder size
Choose a maximum size for the transcoded folder. When the maximum is reached, older files in this folder will deleted when more file space is required for transcoding.

For testing purposes I have set a 2GB limit for my transcoded folder. When i transcode new files the old files are not deleted from the folder. I get a warning that the folder is full. But after I click Ok, the new file continues to be transcoded and the folder grows larger in size. See attached screen image. Is there something I'm not understanding here?
    Thanks in advance.

Before transcoding a new file, Mezzmo will check the transcoding folder size and delete older transcoded files so it is under the limit. Transcoding the new file may cause the transcoding folder size to exceed your limit - e.g. transcoding a Blu-ray or DVD rip could result in a 4GB transcoded file, which exceeds your low maximum limit. However, if you continue to transcode files, you should not see the transcoded folder size continue to grow. It should hover around the maximum size you have set.

Thanks Paul, but it doesn't appear to be working for me as you describe. For testing purposes I set a 2GB limit on the folder. The folder is now up to 8GB, and continues to grow as I pre-transcode more files. Does the auto deletion of older files only work for transcoding on the fly, or also for pre-transcoding like I'm doing?
    Thanks

Understand now. We've reproduced your problem when pre-transcoding and will fix it up for the upcoming Mezzmo v4.1 release.

    Ok thanks, that's good news.

I would like to make a suggestion if you don't mind. When pre-transcoding a file, could you offer the user a check box that would prevent the file from auto-deleting? The files that are flagged not to auto-delete should be identified as such in the Transcoding Tab of the files Properties. The user could then manually delete if they so choose.
    Something to consider I guess.
    Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion. It's a nice idea. We'll add that to our development task list.
