Default Folders listed but no VOB files showing

    Hi.

Currently working my way through the evaluation period for Mezzmo, although so far I'm pretty sure I'll commit to purchasing as it's performing really well.

I have come across a slight issue though and despite trying numerous workarounds I can't figure out what's going on, hence deciding to post here and see if anyone has some suggestions!

I've got a folder on my PC where I'm adding in copies of family Home Movie DVDs we've built up over the years. Following a read through some threads on here I added the top level folder into the library so that it can update dynamically as I continue to add more files (each DVD is added into it's own folder underneath the top-level one).

This was working fine, however after adding a batch last night I noticed that several of the folders weren't showing any content. Thinking there might be a problem with the VOB files in those folders I checked but they play fine in VLC player so I'm satisfied that they're ok. I tried a few things in Mezzmo but nothing altered so thought it might be something to do with the database. Reset this in the Options menu and re-added the top level folder into the clean library - still the same folders don't show any files!

Bizarrely though if I manually add a file from one of the affected folders into Mezzmo it appears in one of the default playlists!!

Perhaps I need to rethink how I get the folders into the database but this method was working ok and when I browsed through my Panasonic TV it showed the top level folder (Home Movies) in the main list followed by the respective DVD titles underneath and looked great! I just can't figure out why 80% of the folders are fine and the others don't show anything?!

Apologies in advance if I've missed something obvious.

    Si

I guess your videos contained on your Home Movie DVDs are short in length (< 15 min). This will be the reason for Mezzmo not picking up your videos.

The current version of Mezzmo (v4.0.6.0) ignores any videos inside a ripped DVD / Blu-ray or ISO that are less than 15 minutes in duration. The reason for this is to ignore the (many) short video files contained on ripped DVDs / Blu-rays that are used for menus, copyright notices, effects, etc. In general, this works fine for your ripped DVDs and Blu-rays, but it does not work well for your self-made home movie DVDs.

To fix this, for the upcoming Mezzmo v4.1, we have introduced an external metadata file that lets you specify the minimum duration for your videos and override the default 15 minute limit. So, you will just need to add a small text file alongside the DVD / Blu-ray folder / ISO with the same file name (e.g. "WeddingDVD" DVD / Blu-ray folder and "WeddingDVD.cva" external metadata file, or "Xmas2013.iso" and "Xmas2013.cva" external metadata file). Mezzmo will read this external metadata file to determine your desired minimum duration. We'll provide an FAQ / tutorial on the forum how to do this as soon as Mezzmo v4.1 is released - which is in final testing and should be released next week.

Have been playing with the latest release for a week now. Coupled with the .mzi file fix from the FAQ above it works a treat!! Really impressed with the software so have purchased the full version now. Keep up the good work (and if you could develop an iOS app in the future, even better!!)

Glad Mezzmo is working well for you, Si. An iOS app is certainly in our plans.
