    Default Streaming just stops :-/

    Hi.

I've had this little issue since I first started using Mezzmo a few years ago and now it seems to be happening more and more. I'll explain.

If I select a movie for example (.mkv / Bluray .iso) the movie can play for X amount of time and then just stop returning to the Mezzmo screen on the TV with no error message. I then usually have to start the film again and fast forward it the point the film stopped to continue. Now this happened every once in a while but now it seems to be happening on almost everything I'm trying to watch and I believe more so on Bluray images. It does tend to stop at random points. It's doing it both on my Samsung UE55HU8500T and UE40D7000.

I'm streaming over a wired network and this is the third house I've lived in since buying Mezzmo so I know it's not the network at fault as it's always new cabling. Could it be a transcoding or a buffer issue ?

That's quite a common problem when streaming Samsung TVs. We've found that they often will abort streaming when there is DLNA / UPnP communication on your home network. This communication is typically received from devices on your home network broadcasting themselves to notify that they are available for DLNA/ UPnP streaming. When your Samsung TV receives this communication, Samsung's firmware seems to stop streaming to process the incoming messages.

The workaround for this is to stop (or reduce) the amount of DLNA / UPnP messages being broadcast on your home network. Firstly, change Mezzmo server's SSDP advertisement interval to 86400 (which is 24 hours). See this FAQ to do this: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...ement-interval. Next, go into your router's settings and turn off anything to do with DLNA or UPnP. Save your settings and reboot your router. Try streaming now and hopefully things improve for you.

It's best we see a set of logs. Turn on logging in Mezzmo (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Now reproduce the sudden video stopping problem on one of your TVs. After it happens, stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.
