    Default disconnect device

hi all is there a way to disconnect a device without restarting server eg kids gone to bed and still watching programs on server so i want to disconnect there media player this stopping the viewing of the program. then if they continue ban the media player some how with out a restart so they cant get back on intill parent activates the player again. i want to be able to do all this without stopping or restarting the server so that the older kids can continue watching without problems. May be a better way would be to have a option like the restrict streaming during this period but when it hits the limit time it cuts the device and wont start intill the start time. that would be best

Perhaps parental control & content rating settings are useful for your situation. If you set the content ratings for your files in Mezzmo, then you can restrict streaming of certain files being streamed to certain devices in your home during a certain times of day. For example, you may want to restrict your R-rated videos or music from being listed or streamed to your devices between 6AM and 9PM. Before or after this time period, all files will be listed and streamed. This is all possible with Mezzmo's parental control and content rating features. See this FAQ - http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...rental-Control. If you need help setting it up, just ask .

This way will work for younger kids but not older kids eg 15, 16 they will just wait intill the files they are not ment to view are active and then watch it. best way is to stop it all together then there is no way to view them. also this still dose not stop the viewing on different players at different times i need to find a way to stop the viewing of everything at different bed times eg younger kids and older kids. so the younger kids can not view programs after eg 8:00pm, but older kids can eg eg i have older kids that will just go to bed and still watch programs when they are ment to be sleeping and then there is the parents well id like to keep evey thing live for us all the time

Understand. To stop a device from connecting to your Mezzmo server, go into the Media Devices dialog in Mezzmo and select the device and click the 'Deny' button. This will stop the device from connecting, listing files and streaming files from your Mezzmo server. To allow the device to start listing & streaming files again, select the device again and click the 'Allow' button.

yea that will work BUT it needs a server restart as it says it will not take effect intill next restart but doing this will disconnect all devices and if that happens i know there is going to be angry teenagers if they are watching a program needs to be a way to do it with out upsetting other users

Understand now. We'll fix that up for the upcoming Mezzmo v4.1.3.0 so that you don't have to restart your Mezzmo server when changing the Allow/Deny state for your devices. The new version should be released in the coming days. It is a free upgrade for all registered users.

so let me get this straight how it will work (i hope) is that when i deny a device it will disconnect it from the current session and block it from reconnecting intill a parent changes it back to allow and then it will reconnect all with out doing a server restart ?

ps the time thing would be realyl usfull to eg set a time range 8:00am - 800pm then when the server reaches 8:00pm it will automatically disconnect the device and not let it reconnect intill 8:00am i use to use wild media server witch has this and its really good the only problem with the software is its buggy and they dont want to know about it so i came to you guys if i could get the time thing added as well id be a very happy man

thanks for ya fast replays and help

Your assumption how it will work is correct. Once a device is set to 'Deny', any requests to Mezzmo server from that device will be rejected. You will not have to restart your Mezzmo server.

The device availability time range is a nice idea. We'll add that to our development list for inclusion into a future version of Mezzmo. Thanks for the suggestion - and welcome to Mezzmo .

thanks these are all ideas from the old system i used Another idea that could be changed that would make life a lot easier is the way you have the rating setup on the folders eg at the moment you can only set the rating on the top folder any folders under this the rating system is grayed out and the only way to change the ratings in the folders under the top folder is to change every single file inside it (THE ONES THAT IT CANNOT GET THE TAGS FOR FROM THE NET
). Now i think a good idea would be to allow you to set ratings on sub folders AND when set at a rating eg r18 whenever you add another file to that folder that it cannot get ratings for from the net it is automatically sets to that rating you set on the sub folder this would save you editing it. thanks again look forward to new updates from last conversation

Understand & nice idea. We already do have this in our development plans so I'll update the feature description in our development database with your thoughts.
