Plex worked for months on this PC but I moved it onto a (lower spec) Debian machine specifically so I could install Mezzmo on here. Plex is still great on the lower spec machine. The LAN is all wired. This is why I am pointing the finger at Mezzmo and becoming grumpy with it. I've found that Mezzmo is hugely slower when reading an ISO and have provided this information on this thread. Hopefully something will get sorted.
I can't speak to MKVs. Others here use that format and don't have issues. I own around 2,000 Blu-Rays and 1,000 DVDs and they are all ripped to the M2TS container format. I have found it the most widely supported on devices so I eliminate transcoding. It works beautiful for me on every device I have. I've done a lot of testing with ISOs and had a lot of success. I have just found that standardizing on a single format and controller the format of the rips (i.e. audio, aspect ratio, subtitles and such) eliminates a lot off potential issues.

    Hi cheese,

Sorry for the delay. It's a busy time for us at the moment. A few issues to cover:

    • You mention Mezzmo server stops randomly for you. Do you mean it crashes? If it is crashing, then this is not normal and we need to fix this. You should see a Mezzmo crash window displayed when it crashes. Click the 'Go To Folder' button on this window and email us the crash dump ZIP file(s). If they are > 10MB, then upload them to a filesharing site like OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox or mega.co.nz and email us the download link.
    • The audio pops / crackling will be a VLC app issue as will be the stopping playing at the credits. The VLC app is in Beta so expect a few issues (...we did in our testing!). I would suggest you go back to the latest MX Player app and follow the steps from the link that jbinkley60 provided to get your AC-3 audio back up and running - http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/11...und-available/. Or, use m.aptoide.com to get an older version of MX Player.
    • Regarding streaming your MKV files across your wireless network onto your Android device, you may experience some stuttering since the MKV video file has a video bitrate of 31Mb/sec (assuming it is the same one you have provided FFMpeg information for in an earlier post). Lowering the video bitrate will solve this problem. You can do this in your video encoding tool (Handbrake, etc.) or you can also do it in Mezzmo via pre-transcoding (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nscoding-Files). Also, when you are streamig your MKV and it is stuttering, go back to Mezzmo (Windows) app and check if the file is listed in the Transcoding pane. If it is and it is marked red, then transcoding on-the-fly is not fast enough for real time playback. In this case, you can pre-transcode your video before playing and this will solve this problem.

Let us know how you go.

    Hi Paul,

I'm not really interested in the streaming to my phone. I want the high bit rate stuff to go to my TV. I don't really want to plan ahead as to what will be watched and pre-transcode (using 10's or 100's of gigs of space) or reduce bitrates in handbrake. Plex does all this stuff without me being aware of it. No faffing with transcoding, bitrates, bandwidth, device profiles. I only want Mezzmo for DVD and Blu-ray ISO streaming. I've not tried DVD ISO streaming as the Blu-ray ISO doesn't work. I've been testing on my phone as its portable. The main TV is on another floor. As Mezzmo hangs so often it's easier to sit at the PC and test on a phone. I have emailed 2 crash logs in so far. I currently have 5 in my collection. The service doesn't come up with a crash report, it just stops being visible on your Mezzmo Android app. I can see Plex, a Raspberry PI running XBMC and a PC running XBMC. These all appear regularly, Mezzmo doesn't. Last night I rebooted my PC, went upstairs and already Mezzmo had stopped being visible to the Android app. This morning I have rebooted again and logged in to type this. At the moment the server is visible on my phone.

    To clarify:
Huge difference between MKV and ISO transcoding speed.
Inability to stream pretty much anything anywhere (.avi, .mkv, .iso) - MX Player, beta VLC or my TV.
Service stops being visible on my phone and TV. Plex was running on this PC for months with no issues. Solution is normally to have to reboot as your Mezzmo program (when I click on "stop" or "start" media server) tells me something like "the service cannot be stopped" or "did not respond".
Your Mezzmo Android app streams AVI files from Plex OK.

I have emailed all the rest of the crash dumps. I have just been out for about an hour and a half. Come back in, load Mezzmo app on phone. Mezzmo server not visible. It's simply not stable.

Thanks for the crash dumps. We've sent you a patch that hopefully improves things.

Let's concentrate on getting your TV up and running. Right-click on your ISO video in Mezzmo and click 'Properties'. On the Properties dialog, go to the Transcoding tab and click the 'Use Original File' button. Select your TV and click OK. Click OK to save your changes. Restart your Mezzmo server and now try streaming the ISO video on your TV. This time, Mezzmo server will stream it directly to your TV without any transcoding. This will tell us whether your TV can play it natively or not. Let us know the result.

If your TV cannot play it natively, then go back the Properties dialog and remove the 'Use original file' entry you just tried and also remove any other transcoded files listed there for this ISO video. Turn on logging in Mezzmo (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Now try streaming the video to your TV. Let it play for 5 minutes or so, and then stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com. We'll analyse the logs and tweak the device profile accordingly and re-send it to you for re-testing.

    Hi Paul,

I've applied the patch and tried again. With the raw files the MKV still juddered and was useless. The ISO sent pcm to the TV which just hissed. The video was also starting and stopping. I did have picture and sound but it was far from watchable. With transcoding the MKV was transcoding at 200fps and was almost watchable on the TV. Again it did keep stopping and starting. The ISO was transcoding at around 14fps and was totally unwatchable. I did have sound and video. These are files that are local to the PC running Mezzmo. The ISO container still seems to have a massive overhead vs an MKV container.

I have emailed logs to support.

Thanks for the update. I guess the recent patch fixed your crashing problems - which is good news. We'll analyse the logs regarding your streaming problems and report back via email.

    Hi Paul,

I'm using "DreamSys Server Monitor" - free software to monitor the Mezzmo service and restart it. It checks once a minute and restarts it if it's not running. Prior to the patch it restarted it 6 times overnight. Last night with the patch it restarted it once. Progress.

OK - that's good to hear. We have not received your logs as yet. If they are >10MB, then they may be rejected by our email server if sent as an email attachment. Or, if you sent them via a Gmail email address, then they may not have reached us. Google seems to be having a problem where some Gmail users are getting "read error" bounce return messages when emailing attachments. Please try uploading the logs to a filesharing site such as Google Drive, Dropbox, mega.co.nz, etc. and email us the download link.
