Thread: Panasonic TX-P50GT60B

    Default Panasonic TX-P50GT60B

I've been using Mezzmo for months without issue, but since the recent update I've encountered several problems, not the least of which has been regular crashes on the PC when I change settings (I have emailed these logs twice).

But an issue I've been having lately involves playing films with an aspect ratio wider than 16:9. For instance, if I play a 2.35:1 aspect ratio film using the "Panasonic Viera 2013 models" profile (correct for this television), the image will fill the screen and appear vertically stretched. But if I change to "Panasonic Viera 2011 models adjusted aspect ratio", the film plays in the correct 2.35:1 aspect ratio, complete with black bars top and bottom.

This would be fine except when watching something with a 4:3 ratio, transcoding is very slow, say 24fps, which obviously means it becomes unwatchable within seconds. But switching back to the 2013 models profile, transcoding happens at a good 200-500fps.

Another issue is that before the update, I used to be able to select embedded subtitles from my television - but now, there are no subtitles listed on any file. I know they're there, because if I force Mezzmo to burn subtitles onto the video, they appear.

What is going on? Can I just download whatever version I was using up until a week or two ago and forget this new version?

You can download older versions from here - http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...ions-of-Mezzmo. However, we'd like to get you up and running with the latest version (v4.1.3.0) and fix your problems.

Regarding the crashes, we do have a patch available that contains all the latest fixes - including for crashes. Email us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com if you would like to try it. Make sure you are running Mezzmo v4.1.3.0 first; see Help -> About dialog to see version information.

Regarding aspect ratio issues, we know from experience & from user feedback from many Viera owners that Panasonic Viera TVs do not handle all the various aspect ratios that videos can have. Viera TVs seem to support a subset of aspect ratios and for the others they will display the videos stretched or squashed as you are experiencing. That's why we created the "Panasonic Viera (2011 models, adjusted aspect ratio)" device profile for Viera 2011 models in an earlier Mezzmo version. It ensures that the aspect ratio is always 1:1 square pixels since most (all) devices can display this aspect ratio correctly. In later Mezzmo versions, we have introduced new aspect ratio features to help you either manually adjust the aspect ratio of the video or auto adjust them. We detail these features in this FAQ - http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...or-your-videos. This will get you up and running with your 2.35:1 videos.

Regarding your subtitles, we can fix this up for you. Right-click on the video and click Properties. On the Properties dialog, go to the Subtitles tab and take a screenshot of this dialog. Post it here or email it to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com. Also, right-click on the video and click 'Get FFmpeg Information'. Again, post that here or email it to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

An issue I forgot to mention with aspect ratios is that if I use the correct 2013 profile (in my first post I should have stated the older profiles, not the 2013 one), the 2.35:1 videos do not play. Audio, yes, picture no. But if I revert to an older profile, they'll play, but stretched. If I use the 2011 aspect ratio profile, they'll play fine - but other media, especially in 4:3, will not.

I do not recall having these problems in earlier versions - everything worked fine. It's only since the programme updated that I've had to mess around with settings and most recently, post here.

Thanks for the information. It's best we see a set of logs so we can see what's going wrong. Turn on logging (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Make sure your device profile is set to 'Panasonic Viera 2013 models'. Right-click on the MKV in Mezzmo (one that stream correctly) and click Properties. On the Properties dialog, go to the Transcoding tab and delete all transcoded files listed there. Now try to stream the MKV on your TV. When it starts playing or fails to play, stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo app. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

Ok, I've emailed you the logs for a 4:3 mkv file that plays normally using the 2013 Viera profile, but which does not allow me to view any of the eleven subtitle tracks contained in the mkv file. This profile will also not allow me to play a 2.35:1 ratio film (16:9 films work fine).
