Thread: Video files and metadata

    Default Video files and metadata

    Hi there!

As far as I understand it, Mezzmo automatically searches the internet for additional metadata information, when I add movie files to my database. But there are two things I do not quite understand:

    1. Is there a certain file name syntax, which should be used, in order to ease Mezzmos search and matching with internet sources?
    2. Where are the options in Mezzmo for this search? I've found several options regarding local information like file path or xml files but nothing about internet resources?

    Thank you for your help,

    Tankred

    Hi Tankred,

    Some answers:

    1. Mezzmo uses the following naming styles for determining movie name, movie year, TV series name, season, episode, etc.

    C:\folder\Movie Title.avi
    C:\folder\Movie Title YYYY.avi
    C:\folder\Movie Title (YYYY).avi
    C:\folder\Title s01e01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title 1x01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title Season 1\Title 1x01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title Season 1 Episode 1 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title\Season 1\01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title\Season 1\s01e01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title\Season 1\1x01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title\Season 1\Title s01e01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title\Season 1\Title 1x01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title\Season 1\Episode 1 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title\Season 1\Season 1 Episode 1 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title Season 1\01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title Season 1\s01e01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title Season 1\1x01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title Season 1\Title s01e01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title Season 1\Title 1x01 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title Season 1\Episode 1 Subtitle.avi
    C:\folder\Title Season 1\Season 1 Episode 1 Subtitle.avi

    2. All options for collecting metadata are in the Metadata Retrieval Settings dialog. Go to the Options dialog (Retrieving Metadata page) and click the 'Metadata Retrieval Setting' button to access it (or via the Maintain Library dialog). On this dialog you will see the option 'Get text metadata and artwork from internet web sites' and the language you prefer and to include adult titles. Mezzmo uses these settings to retrieve metadata from movie web sites (www.themoviedb.org) and TV show web sites (www.thetvdb.com).

If any further questions or problems, just ask .

Thank you Paul for your great answer!

One more thing: is it safe to add further information to the filename after "Movie Title (YYYY)", without confusing Mezzmo? E.g. "Movie Title (YYYY) French DTS.avi"? Or is there a better way to do it?

That should be fine. Try one file like this and see how you go. If any problems, let us know.
