Thread: Interim Android/FireTV app DLNA/Upnp renderer over internet.

  1. #1

Default Interim Android/FireTV app DLNA/Upnp renderer over internet.

Anyone knows of an Android/FireTV app DLNA/Upnp renderer that will work over internet/3G or remote network to access the Mezzmo server? I've tried many but I found that most either don't work well with FireTV (need mouse), or don't have the remote option and only work by automatically scanning the local network.

I think that's something that Mezzmo is working on for the new release. I don't think that's up to the renderer so much as being up to the Mezzmo Server.

The upcoming Mezzmo v5.0 will have a full web presentation interface so you will be able to browse and play media from your Mezzmo library using any web browser located anywhere. In addition, the upcoming Mezzmo (Android) v2.0 app will have remote DLNA access so you can connect to your Mezzmo server outside your home network, browse your Mezzmo library and play your files. Mezzmo (Android) v2.0 will also have its own built-in video player and will be fully Amazon Fire TV and Android TV compatible, including full support for browsing & playing via remote or gamepad controllers. We're just finishing up development now and expect to have Beta testing start in the next month. We'll announce when it's available for Beta testing on this forum and our Facebook page.

Mezzmo Android: Install it on your tablet, smartphone, Android TV or Amazon Fire to browse and stream files from your Mezzmo library to all your devices. Full details at http://www.conceiva.com/products/mez...mo_android.asp
Mezzmo for Kodi Add-on: Install it into Kodi to stream files from your Mezzmo library directly in Kodi. Full details at http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?...odi_user_guide

No - it's 2 main purposes are to: (i) allow you to browse and play files from your Mezzmo library on devices on your home network that do not have DLNA but have web browsers, and (ii) to allow access to your Mezzmo library from outside your home network (for example, let your friends browse & view your recent vacation photos after you provide them with a link, or to let you watch a video whilst travelling on the train/bus, or to listen to tracks from your music collection whilst in the car/office/etc.).

Thanks Paul. I am looking to do #1 but not play it on the device with the web browser but have the Mezzmo content play on another DMR on the Mezzmo network. I struggle with not being able to find a good Windows based DMC. A web based one would be ideal. #2 is a great new feature. Thank you.

Thanks for the new features, but while Mezzmo is not ready, and with Easter/Spring break right ahead of us, does anyone knows of another app that we can use for remote access? I don't know why I'm having so much difficulty finding an android app for remote access, while on the other hand so much easier to find so many on iOS!!!

I can stream remotely on an iphone even with the old server versions so I'm ok with that. My most interest is with the Android 2.0 because I can't find an Android app that supports manual URL and port#. They all just scan the LAN and list whatever they find there. When is mezzmo 2.0 for Android/Fire Tv due?
